Audion Therapeutics Trial

Do you believe that hearing aid companies are able to block/affect the results of those trials 'under the table' in order not to loose their profits? A possible success would be devastating for them.

I believe this, it's like big pharma, cure the patient?> Pff they want CUSTOMERS

It's abhorrent and awful. Why experience the joys of hearing when you can wear a freaking expensive hearing that breaks down so you can keep buying over and over again

The powers that be are EVIL and DO NOT have your best interests in mind

Not a chance. The large pharma companies investing in hearing restoration are not interested in protecting the Starkeys of the world. They see huge profit potential, and will go after it. Eyeglasse and contact manufacturers couldn't shut down lasik, just like a buggy whip makers couldn't stop Henry Ford.

Drug companies and hearing aid companies are completely two different entities. If a company invents a cure for hearing loss then of course they will sell it.

Look how laser eye surgery has taken off. You can get your eyes fixed that was very expensive at the start and the price finally fell to 'collect' the customers. Opticians still sell glasses and I believe this will be the same for hearing aid companies. (Providing they are successful in treating hearing loss)
This treatment will be very expensive when it comes out and hearing aid companies will still remain players in the market for years to come.

Like Nokia blocked the smartphone right?

Has been discussed plenty of times here, of course they can not stop it..

Here's one more appropriate then...how about little Torax Medical offering the Linx, which stops Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease? Eliminates the need to take heat burn meds in perpetuity. This is just one of many examples that blows a hole in the conspiracy theory thing, so fear not:)

Anyway, back to Audion...

As I think those treatments will not fix your hearing completely, ENTs will use a combined approach with regeneration and hearing aids. I think they are not "enemies".

It's always the ones you don't see coming. The fiercest resistance i have encountered personally, is the deaf community. I am specifically talking about those born deaf. They are extremely threatened by the movement. Go see for yourself. Comment on a sign language article or whatever, you will see what I mean.

People born deaf are threatened by advances in hair cell regeneration? Really? I have started a thread where this topic that may be more suitable

What I find to be somewhat perticular, is that Dr. Albert Edge is mentioned as founder of both Audion and Decibel TX. With investments from, e.g. Google in TX, I think this is strange. Curious whether EU funded Audion research is helping Decibel, or GV funded Decibel research is helping Audion.. Edge is mentioned as a consultant for Audion. Is he still involved there, given his position with Decibel? There competitors.. doesn't make sense.

There's not much scam in the medical industry. It costs too much to develop medicines for anyone to develop anything they KNOW won't work at all. But there are good and bad drugs, of course. And there is lots of crap in the business. But there is NO SUCH THING as "big pharma", just as there's no "new world order" conspiracy.

Regain trial has opened in UK. Attached is the clinical trial patient sheet.

So about REGAIN. After developing ear pain I had to visit today my doctor at the ENT clinic of the Kappodistrian University of Athens. We had a quite long appointment and conversation. I asked about REGAIN. My doctor (who was surprised that I was aware about this, thnx TT) happens to be a research associate there and will be recruiting patients at the trial after getting the green light from U.K. 's phase. I expressed my interest and I may get recruited if I decide to do so. Tough decision. We will discuss further and balance the risks and benefits. What I get is that the trial's procedures are running normally.

Good luck! :)

Best of luck to you @vermillion Please keep us updated on any news or info you are able to share
Good luck! :)
Thank you, but I am not sure if I am willing to take this risk. I have also read here in the forum that this method reduces your supporting cells? Anyway, the good thing is that I found a point of reference and any information that can be disclosed to the general public like me, I will share it here.
