Hi,
I have to go to a wedding next month. I am very cautious as to going. I have been to weddings before (including my own) and wore foam ear plugs. I had a bit of a bad spike for a few months not due to noise due to pregnancy. I am back to normal or I just got used to it. I do not want to make my T spike again or worse make it worse. Should I stick with my trusty foam ear plugs or does anyone have any suggestions of good ear plugs?
Thanks in advance!!

Get some custom made. Expensive, but very good quality. I have them and use it in bars and stuff like that. I paid around 1000 in NOK. Thats about 200$.

Like he said ^^^ either custom or i think youl be just fine with foam ones.. Im actually startin to like foam plugs cause i finally was able to insert them right and they really do make loud music or noise real quiet.

Many companies offer musician plugs which are wonderful. I have many patients who are happy with them. They are pricey, but there is a filter in them which will help filter out noise and let speech through.

Since the wedding is in a month, I'd do your best to find an audiologist or another specialist ASAP. Custom products may take a while to get back. Westone also has universal musician plugs too, though! :)

Good luck, good for you being proactive!

The musician plugs are usually 9 or 15 or 25. They have a filter to let the conversation through and block low frequencies. I tried them on the noisy subway of London and they make a difference, I no longer worry about the screeching rails.

Thank you for your responses. Has anyone used Ear Peace ear plugs?
I think the earpeace only cuts down by 20 db.. I think more is needed when you have T just to be safe.. I was going through this whole worry thing on which ear plug to get for a wedding i was supose to be in and ended up with just foam ones but then landed in the hospital so was never able to attend :-/

I have used the foam ear plugs for loud concerts, my hubby said was so loud that he could not take it and we walked out. I had the foam ones in and I was fine. I have used the foam ones for weddings and other loud events and have always been fine. I am just more cautious now. Sorry you ended up in the hospital.

I think foam plugs provide the best protection .i like hearos 33 DB plugs .
Only thing is they stick out lil bit and people ask you 1000 questions as to why you are wearing funny ear plugs .

I thought ear plugs if properly inserted should not stick out or be visible from the front?

I always worry if my plugs are properly inserted for adequate protection. I saw on youtube that the proper way of insertion is to pull the ear with the other hand so as to straighten the ear canal. However, I find that I can never get a decent fit if I do that as compared to just roll and insert.

I wonder if anyone has any similar experience or advice?

Every time i have inserted foam ear plugs a bit breaks off and is jammed in my ear, i have to use a tooth pick to get it out, so i'm obviously doing something wrong!! i prefer silicone plugs that mould into your ear and feel well protected by them, i can slip them out and sit them on the edge of my ear when i feel it's safe to do so, and ram them in tight when some idiot puts me at risk.
