So, I honestly am freaking out. My hearing hasn't gotten better and the ringing seems the same after 3 months. I already can't do the am101 trial further. I am stuck with nothing at this point. Worst is all the could have been prevented with steriods and competent doctors.

Can someone please give me some hope for a hearing loss cure in the next 10 years? I can't take this much longer.

I have read and searched all over the place for this answer. I have seen some ideas that there is a cure soon. Please, I just want my hearing to be normal again. I can't deal with life like this much longer.

Please, anyone, can you please give me some links and proof/hope of hearing loss cure? I can't take this much longer.

Jdjd first of all do your best to calm yourself down,I also suggest you visit your doctor and ask about some anti anxiety meds to help calm your body. There is a lot of research being done as we speak right now for hearing restoration and the likes, what will come of it?Who knows but at least we know something is being done to help people like us.They have made major breakthroughs over the last 4-5 years in understanding the auditory system which is a major step in curing this condition. But another thing to remember is that hearing restoration might not even be the necessary cure, something else might actual turn out to be effective in curing this condition. You have to remember that not everyone who loses hearing experiences T or H and why?Well who knows but they're working on it :)Waiting for hearing restoration might not even be necessary as a pharma cure might happen tomorrow or in a weeks time, nobody really knows but the thing to remember is something will come of it,a cure or at least major relief might just be around the corner.

I don't just care about the ringing though. I don't want the ringing to just go away. If I did I would have probably done more to stay in the am101 trial. I care about my uneven hearing loss.

Yes the ringing is annoying too. F, I can't even do am101 anymore. I'm so messed up right now. I need my hearing fixed. I want my normal hearing back so I can hear music like I did before, hear conversations around me like before, etc.. This sucks.

I'm over this. I just want hearing back. If I had normal hearing with the ringing, like I had before, I would be fine. The hearing loss is messing me up.

I'm 28 years old. If I was given correct treatment I wouldn't need hearing aids. There is a stigma at my age about hearing aids. And no, it doesn't restore hearing like classes so. I got hearing loss at 40db at 8khz, 30db at 6 khz, and 30db at 4khz in one ear.

Also it won't make ringing go away . both are my problems. I was great at my job before this. My life feel apart and I fucked up by not getting correct help by anyone. My savior am101 for one issue I get kicked out of. I can't handle any of this. I got kicked out because getting in antidepressant because I can't handle any of this anymore.

I'm ready to check out soon. I'm tired of this.

Hi, very sorry about your hearing loss and T. How frustrating and at 28 years old I am sure you are going berserk. I get it, am101 sounds promising, I suppose it will be released eventually. I have a very small suggestion but it is all I know to say - I use beanies from Allsaints to cover my earplugs. They are fairly lightweight and cover your whole ear. They are hip as well. Over 65 or 70 degrees it'll get kinda hot but it is good hipster gear. If you get a hearing aide, you could wear them to hide it.

There are also some really small hearing aides that aren't that noticeable.

What exactly happened to you to cause you to lose hearing in one of your ears? And what exactly do you mean by correct treatment?Prednisone? If that's what your thinking of don't beat yourself up over it as Prednisone is by no means a quarantee,it might help a little if anything.

Prednisone did nothing for me except make me loose a bunch of sleep.

Just curious, if the ringing doesn't effect you, what causes you to perform poorly at work?

They don't know. I thought it was linked to head phone usage, but I was wearing earplugs during that usage. It happened overnight, so probably SNHL. It only happened in one ear. I saw a doctor a week or two after, they told me nothing could be done. I entered the AM-101 trials, ENT did nothing then and never mentioned steriods. I finally found out on here a month later about it and too late. Then I have to get on anti-depressants (beg for xanax, been to the ER twice, GP once, and attempting to see a psychiatrists. I booked them back in December and still can't see them for another two weeks. No doctor will give me benzo's even though I practically hanged myself once over this few months).

No one cares. I lost connections with my friends now (they don't talk to me like before and could care less. They try to act like they care, but they just like to point to person x or y at work who is paralyzed or something else), had to drop out of a college course I was taking on the side outside work. I work in finance and was doing very well at my job previous to this, now I worry what will happen to job.

I don't know how I will ever be able to concentrate again on programming. I don't enjoy music anymore. Some people on here have been helpful on here with me currently and in the past, so sorry if they read this and see a repeated story.

I just wanted to make this focus of this post though on a hearing loss cure. I hear many say it's coming out in 10 years. I just want that. I want normal hearing again on the audiogram and be able to hearing voices and music clear like I did before.

I'm not saying the ringing isn't an issue, however the hearing loss is associated with it. If I could hear like I did before, the ringing wouldn't be as noticeable because I would be hearing more outside noises with the CORRECT hearing. The ringing just reminds me of my hearing loss. They go together. Nevermind the offset in hearing.

I just want normal hearing again. If I have normal hearing again, then ringing would bother me less. I know this because I had the ringing before and normal hearing. I never even thought to come on here because it was a non issue. To the point I forgot I had this until December.

Honestly, at 28 years old, it's time to get past that. The only stigma at your age is in your own mind. When I got mine in my very early 30's, nobody said a thing about it. People still don't say anything about it. You know why? Because this isn't high school and people your age are starting to learn life is not all sunshine and rainbows. Everybody has their own problems.

At the low level of loss you have, it actually probably would restore it back to about normal. But you haven't actually tried them, have you?

All I can say Jdjd is that they are working on it as best they can, hearing regeneration may happen tomorrow next week or 10 years from now nobody truly knows but at least they are trying which is better than no one caring at all.Heres a quick recap of my story which is much more depressing than yours,I developed T in January 2011,why?To be honest I don't truly know and after numerous appointments to the ENT department I was told it might go and if it doesn't I'll have to live with it.I started to go out to my friends more and more to distract myself and believe it or not I had spontaneous remission I.e my T completely disappeared!I was ecstatic and went to see a specialist for advice on what to do about noisy environments,I was told to wear earplugs just in case and I'll be fine.So I eventually plucked up the courage and went to a club(something I barely ever done before)with earplugs.Things went well at first staying away from the speakers and just chatting with friends I hadn't seen in a long time, that was when somebody dragged me onto the dance floor knocking out my plugs without me realising.I was on the dance floor no more than 15 minutes before I realised and left.Needless to say the next day T was back and this time it stayed!Such a hard blow to be dealt and I constantly blamed myself for what happened but worse was to come.Fast forward 2 years and I was going through quite a bad spike and began watching hearing restoration videos on YouTube to get up to date on the research, after the video ended I looked down at my phone and YouTube being YouTube automatically loaded another video related to what I searched, hearing being the word it chose and played a video of high pitched noises unknown to me.The noise was overly loud and my ears began beeping and I developed immediate H!I honestly thought I'd kill myself soon after that,I couldn't handle this happening,it was all like a sick joke!Fast forward 2 years and my T was easily 1-2 and my H was 80-85 cured.Id gotton my life back again, even met the girl of my dreams and started enjoying my life to the full again,I couldn't of been happier. We always played it safe enough with my ears until a few sudden loud noise exposures ruined everything for me.My T is going crazy and my H is nearly unbareable! If you think you have it bad just read my story and you'll quickly realise you have it easy my friend.A hearing aid should help with the hearing loss and you will get your life back I promise you that you will.I supposedly have no hearing loss but yet I am going through all this bull praying for a cure everyday! What makes it even sadder is that I'm only 23,my life has been ruined by this but I never give up hope,it's all I have left.

Not to get into competition about who has it worse, but how is that worse? You have ringing and H like many on here with no hearing loss that is measurable in the speech range? You don't even need a hearing aid? I had ringing before this, I can assure you I would take a louder T than what I had if it meant no hearing loss (although that probably wouldn't happen as its from hearing loss).

If all I had was T, I would be happy right now (I can say that to be true too, because I had T without hearing loss before).

Anyhow, again, not looking to get into competition or belittle your situation (sorry to hear about it). Hope it doesn't come off that way, as everyone on here is struggling with there own issues.

I understand most won't say anything in public about this. But dating? All is fair in love and war, that saying exists for a reason. I already have been diagnosed with a digestive issue that is chronic as well. That other issue actually caused issues on a date before. That was before I had this though.

I haven't tried them. I'm considering it, but I just can't believe its coming to this. Part of me wants to try to see if I adjust to this minor lose and ringing. I guess I should have stayed in the am-101 trial. But, like the last few months, everything has been falling apart like a stack of cards.

I would try hearing aids if I could get some good facts/ideas a hearing loss cure is within the next 10 years or close to it.

I can't believe I did what I did and got out of AM-101 trials. I can't believe any of this is happening. If I could get some real hope of hearing loss cure, I would move on.

There is NOTHING that suggests a hearing loss cure is coming in 10 years. It is more than a decade away, most likely 2-5 decades. For sure. If you haven't noticed, medicine progresses slowly. Trials, approvals and other investigations will take years on top of finding a cure.

Could you please explain how a cure 8 years from now or a cure 15 years from now is affecting your decision to *try* a hearing aid today.

I have emailed some companies and heard from them some of the things they are working on could come to market in 8-10 years. I want to keep that company on the low though, as they probably should not have told me what they did and really doubt they would be happy me naming it. So, yes, there is some hope out there. Otherwise I would be out of this place by now.

However, that is one company/organization. That is hardly enough for me, as they could fail at what they are doing.

It would decide if sticking around on this planet is worth it. If it's not, then I don't care about worrying about a hearing aid as the ride will end soon.
An alternative approach would be to see if a hearing aid helps because that might affect how you see the future.

You seem to think that prednisone could have saved you from all this. That's far from certain. Prednisone is a last ditch effort that sometimes helps and sometimes doesn't and that's if it's initiated in the first 48 hours. I did prednisone 1 week after onset and it did nothing for me. It's a hail marry.

Believe me Jdjd I'm not trying to"compete"against you because believe me this is a competition I don't want to be a part of :)All I'm saying is that you have options right now where as I,well don't other than waiting for some relief to finally come along.I can say with all my heart I would take a significant hearing loss and T over what's going on with me right now,at least I would know that a hearing aid could really help my situation as it may do for you.I can barely tolerate any sound and my ears hiss up to the slightest sound,I'm housebound and life is bleak.Im only 23 years of age and this is what my life is,miserable!Dont be so hard on yourself and as far as a hearing aid goes who gives a f**k what people think!Wear it with pride and joke and laugh about it with your friends so you don't feel so self conscious about it.Your the one pushing your friends away not the hearing loss by not doing something about it.I know at least 4 people with hearing aids of different ages and they hear me just fine, and more importantly they're very happy people.Feel free to pm me Jdjd if you need someone to talk to,don't want you doing anything rash.
Kind Regards
Bill.

It does stuff for hearing loss. Not maybe T. If you get hearing loss suddenly. I will never know though, if I knew I probably would be more relaxed than I am.

But, I'm asking what cures are coming out and what hope there is for it in the next 10 or so years?

NO CURES ARE COMING OUT IN THE NEXT 10 YEARS!

HOW CAN THIS BE PUT INTO YOUR HEAD?

I'm not looking for naysayers as anyone can say that. And I have already heard from a company backed by researchers who counter what you say. I'm not claiming they will succeed but they are out there. I would love to hear what else is out there though if anything.

Just being honest, if there is no cure soon I'm probably leaving. Soon being 10-15 years.

I'm asking you why you can't perform at your job properly ??? So it's the ringing that bothers you? We all understand that tinnitus (for the most part is caused/associated with hearing loss).

@jdjd09 Hey man. Is it a pscychiatrist that you see in 2 weeks?. I am no expert but arent pscychiatrists supposed to be the experts that will know what the best treatment/drug will be for your situation?.

Also,if I were you. I would try the hearing aid suggestion. Just try it out and see what changes you experience. Not sure how hearing aids go in regards to purchasing and possibly returning for a refund if they dont help. If it was me,I would look into the hearing aid thing and then see what the psychiatrist says
