Can Talking on the Phone Cause a Tinnitus Spike?

For all we know, if not for that flight, THAT "spike T" could have still been your T...
@Bill Bauer Yes, you could be right. It was super strange since T was as loud it can get and it was gone right after flight instead of slowly subsiding.
I cannot talk on the phone without using a tightly wound up cotton ball in my ear. The cotton absorbs the sound just enough to help me keep from having tinnitus spikes.
Be careful with cotton. Some times small particles from cotton can remain inside and can cause ear infection and can damage ear drum. My relative had hole in her ear drum because cotton that was stuck there from prolong use.

May be you can use very soft ear plugs. Cut ear plugs in half may be?

Hi Sean,

I agree with you 100%. In many other threads I went on to explain why the cotton ball should be very tightly wound into a small ball. The fibers must not get loose in the ear canal. But, this method completely absorbs the impact of noise directly into the ear - especially when talking on the phone. And you can hear the conversation just as well.

Ear plugs of any type did not absorb the sound. In fact the crunching noise when talking....even with the soft foam would not allow me to talk comfortably on the phone.

Use e-mail whenever you can...
@Bill Bauer , when sonic tooth brush touched your ear..did it touch close to ear canal ?
I went for hair cut and this lady has a very large buzzer ..never seen such a large buzzer.
I was wearing plugs and she touched my back of my ear . My ears buzzing louder ..not sure this would cause any damage .
What's your opinion ? I was wearing plugs so I don't see any how this could cause damage .

It touched the inside of my unprotected ear canal. Also, it probably vibrated faster than that buzzer.

My ear felt full right away, so if you are not experiencing ear fullness, you are probably ok.

My ear doesn't feel full ..it's buzzing louder may be because it shocked me and I panicked ?
