I developed tinnitus in December 2024, and ever since, I've mostly stayed indoors. In my left ear, it sounds like the hum of crickets.

I've noticed an interesting change. Between mid-December 2024 and mid-January 2025, I was mostly active at night. Because of that, I kept my computer speakers at a very low volume (6–8%). I listened to music at this level while working on my laptop. During this time, my baseline tinnitus sounded quiet and sometimes seemed to disappear entirely.

After mid-January, my schedule shifted, and I became active mostly during the day. As a result, I started setting my laptop volume higher (14–16%).

I don't know if it's just my imagination, but now my baseline tinnitus sounds louder. Back in early January, it was very faint, but now the sound of crickets is more noticeable.

Can this really happen? Can a small change in volume—from 6% to 14%—increase my baseline tinnitus? That seems like such a minor difference, and my laptop volume is not loud at all. It's very mild.
