Chiropractor and Hyperacusis

Has anyone found relief from going to a chiropractor???

According to a chiropractor here in Chicago, my spine is out of line by my neck area, and he told me this is what can be causing my tinnitus & hyperacusis.

Today is my first day but I don't really have my hopes up.

Keep up trying it, it wont cost you more than $ 20 a visit. You need more than 4 treatments to find out for inprovements.

I thought I'd give a chiropractor a try recently. He set my atlas and worked on my neck and back for a month. It didn't have any effect on my T, so we decided to end the sessions.

that has nothing to do hyperacusis it he is outright lying.

The audiogram only measures 0-8000hz in the human voice range, they usually do not test for speech discrimination in background noise. Science is strongly suggesting Hyperacusis and tinnitus together are sensori-neural hearing loss related.

Research is suggested that hyperacusis has to do with inner ear damaged to outer hair cells leaking fluid that activates a small amount of nerve fibers into acting as pain receptors in response to normal everyday sounds.

The cochlea has a secret pain receptor that naturally responds to noises over 120 decibels but it lowers drastically due to acoustic trauma or anything that damages and or kills outer hair cells.

If would make me very annoyed and sad to see people come into this thread who suffer from painful hyperacusis and schedule a con man chiropractor that will scam them.

Science has a lot more to learn about tinnitus and hearing disorders but what is known can help call out bullshit.

they only test for hearing loss in the human voice range and slightly above 0-8000hz
they usually do not test for speech in background noise or ultra high frequencies which tinnitus can occur from.

I pass an audio gram too and I have a horribly smearing effect in my right ear when high pitch noises are mixed with excessive background noise.

I've met people who have H due to their jaw and neck. (Disclaimer: Im not a doctor) Somewhere likely their nerves are being pinched. Whether it be the facial or auditory nerve who knows? So yes the neck can be a cause hyperacusis, but from what I've seen it's a less common cause. Outright likely rare. And I doubt even if this was the cause of someone's H it's unlikely that Tinnitus would accompany it or even be a symptom.
