Tinnitus Since
The event
Cause of Tinnitus
Acoustic trauma
Since a couple of months I have noise induced tinnitus from single time loud headphone use.

During the last few days I have noticed that if I clench my jaw very hard for a few seconds some of the tinnitus tones actually completely stop for a couple of minutes. I am aware somatic tinnitus exists but I have never had anything like it before before my acoustic trauma. My tinnitus is also not affected by neck or jaw movements.

Can anyone explain this?

Because it almost feels like somehow the induced tinnitus can by jaw clenching temporarily overwrite it and then when I stop the clenching the noise induced tinnitus temporarily disappears with it...

Hi

I pretty much have the same symptom, my tinnitus can be stopped by clenching the jaw.
One question : do you think your tinnitus is pulsatile ?

Can you really stop it ?
I wonder common it is among tinnitus sufferers. I have found only one study mentioning tinnitus getting quieter with neck or jaw movements. Usually it is the opposite, it gets louder.
When i clench my jaw , the tinnitus gets louder, and when I stop, it suddenly stops for a second.
What are your symptoms ?
