Please don't judge me, we all know how terrible this condition really is and I'm afraid of making this monster worse.

I have been wanting to get a new change on looks.
I want a nose ring hoop piercing.

Would a nose piercing make tinnitus worse since it's on my nose? I'm afraid of doing something physical and causing somatic tinnitus and making it worse.

Also, I have to clean the hole inside and outside of the nose. Would the solution be bad since it is going inside my nose too?

Please don't judge me
That's like telling the Earth "please don't attract me once I step off of the ledge". People will be judging you both now (I will be adding you to my Ignore list, as [given what I know about you now] I am not interested in what you have to say) and after your procedure.

The signal that I am getting when I see someone with a tattoo or another "body modification" is that it is someone who heavily discounts the future/isn't spending much time thinking about the future. Someone with questionable judgement.

Bill it's a nose ring..why so extreme on something that really means nothing. What are they discounting by getting a nose ring?

It's a signal to others that reveals important information about the person.

That's rubbish. Having a nose ring reveals nothing about the person, other than they have a nose ring. Please share what it reveals, when they have a nose ring :)

PS- No I do not have one......

The idea that a nose piercing worsens tinnitus is absurd.
But fear is also a way of self-fulfilling prophecy...

How about women and men with pierced ears, do you add them to your ignore list?

Absurd, I had respect for Bill even when I was told he told people to use earplugs to talk to other people, or after all the comments he has made that has put many including me to be phonophobic with little things that should be normal.

I don't want to argue.

I am a classy girl, but tinnitus has taught me that life, there is only one.

I now want to have a new change of look after this battle, that I am still fighting.
If you want to have a change of look, nothing wrong with that.

Quit being so judgemental, that we are nobody to judge each other.

I am simply worried since a piercing affects the sinuses and that spikes my tinnitus too, but seems like no one knows.

I meant fishbone. I guess if in doubt probably not a good idea.

Look don't take it to heart. I think you will be ok with this. The only possible issue that maybe might happen is if you deal with an infection. That and possible pain and stress that might possibly come from it. I am not advising to get it or not.

Our lives are so changed these days, that no one cares if you have a pierced nose. Do what makes you happy but always try to protect your ears :)

Necrosis in Nasal Wall

If one develop necrosis, the tissue forming in nose will not be able to tolerate the presence of any kind of prick. The condition would cause the cells around the jewelry to die off.

Chances of developing necrosis would be particularly high if you had a traumatic nose piercing. The condition can also be caused if one is allergic to any material used during the process or the metal itself. Allergies can cause itching, swelling and sometimes tinnitus.

Septal Hematoma
One may get a septal hematoma on the nose after getting it exposed any trauma causing activity.

The septum is a structure made of cartilage and is responsible for keeping our nostrils separated from each other. This part of the nose doesn't have any blood supply of its own.

If the piercing is traumatic, it can end up injuring the septum. Such injuries often cause bleeding and accumulation of blood in the area between the septum and perichondrium. Some common symptoms of the condition include pain and swelling around the nose, breathing difficulty, infection, Staphylococcus and bacteria Pseudomonas aeruginosa.

The treatment for restoring blood supply to the septum is pretty expensive, but is mandatory.

dude, chill out. it's not that big of a deal.

being slightly phonophobic is probably a good thing.
Bill do share an answer....
yeah man.

agreed and agreed.
Necrosis in Nasal Wall
a real concern, although if done correctly this wouldn't be an issue. if.........................

I say don't do it. You have body tissue where it is for a reason, and a damn good one. That's my argument.

Don't do it then.

Why do you want that for?

I'm not a fan but I won't say anything bad about it. I would research it though and see what the probability is of having complications afterwards.

stridently autistic middle aged man with a deep & profound love of posting is compelled for some reason to grace thread with personal opinions re piercings on a forum about tinnitus... and folks? I'm LOVING it!

@Bill Bauer
I agree with you. Tatoos doesn't matter whether it's one or more, weird colour hair dye, nose rings, having multiple earrings, body piercings, all send out strong signals about a person and I am not going to say what they are.
