Frequency Therapeutics is not a hearing loss company. They are working on progenitor cell activationI don't know, I think it's a smart move. The way I see it, FX Therapeutics is sort of a get-rich-quick scheme compared to Decibel. Their funding is smaller and you can see that they outsourced their current trials to the small Alamo ENT.
This is not to say that FX doesn't have an excellent idea or that it won't work (I hope and pray that it does!)
But Decibel seems to be in it for the long haul. The ear is really, really complicated. If you want to really figure things out, you need to start from the ground up, and a top-notch research space is important. Unfortunately there is still so much about the auditory system that science doesn't know. That's the way I see it.
Personally I'm glad that both types of companies exist. The more the better!!
