Do You Still Go to Movies?

I have volume control on my hearing aids which are useful when going to the movies.

That said, I'm a big fan of sci-fi action flicks. So, I'll definitely be going to see: 'Blade Runner 2049 3D'

I liked the first "Blade Runner" a lot and Harrison Ford is also in this one.

Do you guys still go to movies?

The new IT movie is now in theaters and I have been waiting for it over a year (I am a huge horror fan.)

If any of you still go to movies does your tinnitus spike from them?

I have been waiting for it for so long but I may still skip it :(
No, I don't go to movies anymore.

seems like many of you on the no side but here is a previous post with some positive reviews. I say live life and wear plugs as long as you have had T for some time and are not new to the condition which you are not. I have attended 4 weddings including my own this past weekend and I am fine.

As of right now, I don't, but that's because of my H NOT the tinnitus.

I would have no problem going to the movies with T. Would just bring my ear plugs. My local cinema is not that loud.

Nope. I don't think I would be able to enjoy the move while worrying about my hearing. Even with earplugs in... earplugs amplify my tinnitus and that alone would take all the enjoyment out of seeing the movie. I'll just watch it at home. Sigh, T and H have turned me into a hermit.

Congratulations brother!

How did you tackle the music issue? Quieter dancefloor? Earplugs?

Glad all is well

thx man ! I have 2 pairs of Westone custom fitted musician ear plugs. They are great because they dont amplify the sound of my T because they let in sound while protecting them at the same time. I have 2 filters...1 cuts the sound by 15 DB and the other by 30 DB. I wore the 30 and instructed the DJ to lower the bass. At anyone elses wedding I would take breaks and would not stay too close to the DJ speakers. The first wedding I attended I did have a lil issue because I wore the 15 db filter for a while and the DJ had the bass up high. I felt a lil soreness in my right ear but was fine after the wedding. My hyperacusis has gotten much better and sounds dont bother me as much but I could see someone with bad H having problems. Hope this info helps and I strongly recommend getting customs.

See my previous post on musician custom plugs...they let sound in

I'm kinda scared to go at the moment, because I remember cinemas being loud even before my hearing issues arrived.

It's sad because I REALLY want to see the new bladerunner

nope, no movies for me..never again.

To me even watching TV is already loud !

So I have to quit the idea of going to the Movies... :(

Your auditory system needs to be desensitised @Christophe_85 use sound enrichment especially at night. Try not to make tinnitus run your life. Your hyperacusis can improve and I believe cured...You don't have to spend your life being afraid of sound.

Hello Michael !

Thank you for your message... :)

Actually I am scared of sound, even though there are days worse than others...

I try not to get into loud situations but in the City it is sometimes impossible ! lol

From your side how are you ?

Are your moments with family and friends ok or it is difficult to see them ?

It is fine. I just don't like having H..i developed it from overprotecting my ears. I hope it fades away.

I am doing ok @christophe and thanks for asking. Just take things slow and your ears over time will not be so sensitive to sound. Try not to keep away from normal everyday sounds.

Take care
Michael

Great to know ! :)

Actually, those weeks I have activities in loud environments like in a pub and a restaurant on Saturday for a friend, see my sister with her kids tomorrow and this is also quite loud, especially high-pitched sound ! ;)

I always take my earplugs with me, and most of the time I feel that I need to put them...

As I am also always scared if it was too much noise for my ears... :(

Apparently yes it can go away...

I maybe overprotect my ears sometimes, but also it is hard to see the difference between barely bearable sounds and unbearable sounds to me...

So I usually prefer to put my earplugs...

Do you have T and H?
