Hello, my name is Ben and I have had tinnitus for a week.

My doctor examined my ears and said that I have a problem with the Eustachian tubes and it is likely that this is causing the tinnitus.

Any advice on the best course of treatment would be gratefully received.

If it is ETD, perhaps the doctor should give you something to cure that. Usually it can be prednisone steroid or an antibiotic. But your doctor should be consulted for treatment of ETD. If you want more info on ETD, try to search TT forums with 'ETD' and you will get many prior discussions on it. In the meantime if T is affecting you negatively, you may try masking it. If you do, try set the volume of masking sounds slightly lower than T so you can learn to get used to that sound. Here is an excellent TT thread on helping new T sufferer with a step by step instruction. It also contains an audio player, and link to a sleep thread (if you have trouble sleeping), as well as links to ATA & BTA. Take care. God bless.
