Favorite Movie Quotes -> Go!

"I found that if you have a goal, that you might not reach it. But if you don't have one, then you are never disappointed. And I gotta tell ya... it feels phenomenal." - Peter La Fleur, Dodgeball

"Greed, for lack of a better word, is good. Greed is right. Greed works. Greed clarifies, cuts through, and captures, the essence of the evolutionary spirit. Greed, in all of its forms; greed for life, for money, for love, knowledge, has marked the upward surge of mankind and greed, you mark my words, will not only save Teldar Paper, but that other malfunctioning corporation called the U.S.A."
--Gordon Gekko (portrayed by Michael Douglas), Wall Street (1987-movie).

Cant even count to ten and you win the lottery, aint that a bitch" -next friday

Blanche Dubois from A Streetcar named Desire
'Maybe we are a long way from being made in God's image, but Stella--my sister--there has been some progress since then! Such things as art--as poetry and music--such kinds of new light have come into the world since then! In some kinds of people tenderer feelings have had some little beginning! That we have got to make grow! And cling to, and hold as our flag! In this dark march toward whatever it is we're approaching. . . . Don't--don't hang back with the brutes!'

This line is so acute and sharp.

I did not see this thread before (well, now) as I posted some of my favorite quotes by Jack Burton from Big Trouble in Little China (1986) in the other quote thread.

Anyway, here are some of my all time favorite movie quotes:

"Don't push it or I'll give you a war that you wont' believe!"
John J. Rambo - First Blood (1982)

"You're a big man, but you're in bad shape. With me it's a full time job. Now behave yourself."
Jack Carter - Get Carter (1971)

"Had man not been given to invention and experiment, then tonight, sir, you would have eaten your dinner in a cave. You would've strewn the bones about the floor then wiped your fingers on a coat of animal skin. In fact, your lapels do look a bit greasy. Good night."
Baron Victor von Frankenstein - Frankenstein Must Be Destroyed (1969)

"I know you're in there, old man! Listen up, mister! That piece of scum barking rat of yours has just taken his last dump on my lawn! I find one more- just one- I'm gonna catch him and staple his ass shut!"
Mark Rumsfield - The 'Burbs (1989)

"If they told you wolverines make good house pets, would you believe them?"
Del Griffith - Planes, Trains and Automobiles (1987)

"You know what the trouble about real life is? There's no danger music."
Chip Douglas - The Cable Guy (1996)

"Come on Bennett, throw away the chicken shit gun, you don't just want to pull the trigger, you want to put the knife in me, and look me in the eye, and see what's going on in there when you turn it, that's what you want to do, right?"
John Matrix - Commando (1985)

"I was never more certain of how far away I was from my goal than when I was standing right beside it."
Vincent - Gattaca (1997)

"One day the AIs are going to look back on us the same way we look at fossil skeletons on the plains of Africa. An upright ape living in dust with crude language and tools, all set for extinction"

-Nathan from Ex Machina

Sad and likely very accurate. The rate at which AI will evolve will likely outpace us by a large amount, given that our molecular and genetic techniques are still depressingly primitive.

Native American chieftain in A Million Ways to Die in the West:
"There is an ancient proverb among my people: Sometimes the only way for man to find true happiness is to take drugs in a group."

Alan Barnes child actor in:

"Whistle Down the Wind."

"So we learn to pick ourselves back up."

Batman Begins.

To Elmer B Fuddled:

The actual quote was taken from Michael Herr's Vietnam book "Dispatches".

A reporter asked a helicopter door gunner:
"How can you shoot women and children?"

The door gunner:
"It's easy - you just don't lead them so much."

Herr said that this was actually said by a real door gunner to a reporter.

I am so glad I'm not the only woman who knows of Steel Panther.
As fruity and non PC as their lyrics are, they are also extremely clever and funny. I would have appreciated if-clauses a lot more if our teacher had us practice them with lines from If I was the King ;)

Yep, you are correct, thanks for clearing that.
