Interesting news today. Microsoft Gaming is in the process of acquiring Activision Blizzard.

Pretty major. They will own the intellectual property rights to all these franchises now.

(As well as Crash Bandicoot and Spyro)

I need to check out that new Pokémon Legends: Arceus game... I'm hearing nothing but good things about it.

No, I haven't but it sure looks fascinating. Thank you very much for the tip, I'll have to give it a try.
I finally got round to giving Picross a try and I've got to say, great tip! It's easy to get the hang of and a little addictive - unlike my latest "precious" which I got for the grand total of 1€ plus postage on eBay and which is literally driving me nuts.

I feel like I need to construct a list of what numbers add up to what or else it's either my poor DS or my head that will end up in an early grave :banghead:

Need a new Nintendo Switch Lite. Someone help me pick a color.

Did you play it? I did and I had pretty fun with it. My expectations were low.

The story is nothing spectacular, but the catching is just fun and addicting, although it has gotten a bit repetitive after about 190 different caught.

As long as you don't expect a huge open adventure like Zelda: Breath of the Wild you may enjoy it.

Yes, I'm about 7 hours into this game. I'm really impressed with what I've seen so far. I absolutely agree with you about the catching in this game. Just a blast throwing pokeballs quickly everywhere and timing your throws (love hitting Pokémon's from the back). IMO, this is the only way I see myself catching Pokémon's going forward now lol. I honestly can't see myself going back to the traditional way of catching Pokemon. It's way too slow compared to this fun and fast-paced method of catching Pokémon lol. I also really like the seamless tradition into Pokemon battles. The strong and agile attack style system is pretty intriguing as well.

GameFreak has built a great foundation here and I hope they will continue to expand on it with future entries.

I agree about everything! I hope they can combine all that is good with this game with the old ones with many towns and gyms.

Got any shiny Pokémons yet? I got three so far. It is by far the easiest game to find them. But now there's also the Alpha Pokémon which can also be shiny. :)

I found a shiny ghastly.
I read that if you complete the Pokédex, you'll be rewarded with something that increases rate of shiny Pokémon
When I was a kid I played Max Payne a lot. I could say I was a fan. Nowadays I don't play at all.
Great game.

Hello,

Could anyone advise on a good gaming console, capable of withstanding a few drops? It's for my daughter (turning 5). Wanting something portable that she can play in the car when bored.

She is very into Roblox and can kick my a$$ at just about any 'obby' going. She likes first player games. Any good suggestions? Obviously nothing violent etc.

Hey,

Nintendo Switch Lite ideally. It's portable and pretty durable for the most part. It comes in many colors, there are images above your post of the console.

As for what games to get for your daughter if you plan to get a Nintendo Switch Lite
1) Mario Kart 8 Deluxe - It's a really fun racing game for all ages. It has driving assist options to make it much more easier for kids. (Turn on Smart Steering and auto-accelerate)

2) Yoshi's Crafted World - There's a difficulty mode called mellow mode, makes the game easier and relaxing to play.

3) Donut County - It's a short and fairly simple game. Easy to get into and for a cheap price.

4) Animal Crossing New Horizons - you'll need to help her get started on it. After that she'll get the gist of what the game is all about. I think she will like this one a lot. Its a never ending game.

5) Paw Patrol On a Roll - I hear this game is good for little ones.

Just so you're aware. Games are more expensive on a Switch console compared to something like on an iPad.

Fellow Italian here, also a huge fan of Witcher III and NieR. I played also an ungodly amount of Borderlands 2 :)
Ciao! I remember when I finished NieR for the first time, it was early summer 2018; at that time I still did not know that Swedish cities, especially those with big universities, are quite empty after midsommer (end of June)... there was me working / playing NieR, my landlady doing her usual bs a literally nobody else in the apartment building. I had switched to NieR from Far Cry because it was quite too hard for me, I did not enjoy playing it.

Most of the games I played certainly entertained me but did not leave any emotional imprint; but NieR:Automata... man that game left me full of melancholy (for a reason that I cannot even specifically pinpoint too well).

If there's one game everyone here needs to play, it would have to be Slay the Spire. Seriously, this game is disgustingly good. It's a masterpiece in design, variety, and balancing gameplay. I clocked in 200 hours of playtime.

You don't even need to play with volume as it doesn't have any bearing on the overall experience. It's a deck building, card based roguelike and addicting AF.

@Damocles, I highly recommend this to you. It tends to go on sale frequently on the Nintendo eShop, so keep a look out for it when an eShop sale is happening. It's still a relatively cheap game even at retail value. I would pay top dollars for it anyways... that's a testament to how good this game is.

Thanks @ZFire.

Nintendo Switch Lite it is! Me and her dad know nothing about computer games/consoles, so this is very helpful. Gets a bit confusing with all the website comparisons, just want something appropriate for her age/size of her hands etc.

We've had a look at the games, and I think they will be great for her. Just so many different things to choose from these days. The last computer game I played was on a Nintendo 64, things have moved on a bit since then!

Thank you for the recommendation @ZFire mate.

I will be sure to download this and give it a go.

From your description it already sounds exactly like my sort of thing.

A megaton today. There was an unexpected surprise today by GameFreak. The next generation of Pokemon is coming Late 2022.

FMm_ScJXwAY0Q_j?format=jpg&name=large.jpg

The Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet games, the newest chapters in the Pokémon series, are coming to Nintendo Switch later this year. With these new titles, the Pokémon series takes a new evolutionary step, allowing you to explore freely in a richly expressed open world.

Various towns blend seamlessly into the wilderness with no borders. You'll be able to see the Pokémon of this region in the skies, in the seas, in the forests, on the streets—all over! You'll be able to experience the true joy of the Pokémon series—battling against wild Pokémon in order to catch them—now in an open-world game that players of any age can enjoy.

The three Pokémon from which you'll be able to choose your first partner are Sprigatito, Fuecoco, and Quaxly. How will you meet these three, and what sorts of Pokémon are they?

Starters look sweet. I think I'll go with the Fire type.

The outfit gear for your trainer depends on which version you plan to get. I think I prefer Violet.

Pokemon Legends recently came out, so this is surprising to say the least. Day 1 for me.

Unexpected indeed, and maybe a bit worrying that it comes so soon, if you think about the time it takes for Nintendo to develop their open-world games.

But it looks nice. Will probably get it on day 1 also.

Hello people.

Been seeing a lot of friendly posts. :3

I've been playing a bunch of a game called Caves of Qud recently.

It's an old-school-styled role-playing game with a bunch of different character options and factions.

Still in Early Access, but fairly playable. I've sunk a lot of time into it.

I also recommend this review unless you want to go into the game entirely blind.

Cool!

Please chime in with how things go.

I had a regular Switch once but I had to sell it to afford trips to the hospital and meds.
Aw man that's shit. Sorry to hear.

Will definitely let you know how she likes it.

Hoping it at least makes car journeys a little less stressful. The combination of busy roads, earplugs, hearing loss, and attempting to communicate with my daughter, is a recipe for disaster...

Thanks for posting. It looks very intriguing so I'll look into this. I'm a huge fan of Roguelikes and Roguelites, so this could be right up my alley. The RPG gameplay appears to be very deep with its systems and mechanics. Is there any characters you would recommend to start off with for beginners?

One thing I like about the Indie scene in gaming is that you'll always find a lot of hidden gems out there.

Yay. :3

I like the indie scene for that too. We're in a great time for that.

Character-recommendation-wise I would suggest a mutant first. Possibly many mutants to get a feel for this and that.

Purchasing the Chimera-option means that you will only get physical mutations, which might be easiest to play with when starting out. Mental mutations are a bit quirkier and not having to deal with them on your character might be preferable when starting out.

How do you like to play, generally? Once you start up character creation and look at the available mutations, your mind should start to sketch out ideas.

Regeneration is always a good mutation for dying less, not to mention that it gives you a % chance to regrow a lost limb every turn. You know, in case someone would happen to bite your foot off.

There are lots of possibilities, and I'm not sure I could recommend a character build that you would find fun.

In the end, having fun is the most important aspect, but with CoQ there are a lot of things at play and it might take time to get a good enough feel for them that the game becomes "fun enough" so to say.

Generally I start out with an idea like "It would be cool to have four arms and an axe in each hand", and go from there.

Take all my suggestions with a grain of salt. I am by no means an expert.

Doom, Metroid, Starcraft and the From Software games are some of my favorites.
Have you played Elden Ring yet? I hear it's the culmination of all Miyazaki's most recent games put together in an open world design and what we get is one of the greatest video games of all time. I'm going to need to check it out soon. Bloodborne is my favorite From Software game as I just love the lovecraftian aesthetic behind its art design. Gameplay also slaps.
007 GoldenEye, Grand Theft Auto, God of War, Call of Duty, Fortnite.
Nice list. I hear that GTA 6 is currently under development, so that's going to be exciting. It's long overdue at this point. God of War Ragnarok is one of my most highly anticipated games coming out this year.
