Favourite Video Games?

I was looking at the top 10 best music tracks of 2021 for video games. There was one game that pique my curiosity. The game is called Everhood and the music track is named "Tinnitus Dance". I haven't listen to it yet, but according to YouTube comments, they say it's amazing if you are into Techno.

Pokémon Shining Pearl or Brilliant Diamond

A lot of fans of the series want to see major change to the formula, but after finally completing Pearl, I must say I kinda don't want them too. I still really enjoy the top down Pokémon style gameplay and glad to see it make a return in this remake. This is really a faithful adaptation of the DS versions, but there is a lot of quality of life improvements that make me enjoy the remakes much more. These include an auto save feature, EXP share for all Pokémon's in your party, quick & easy access to Pokémon PC through pause menu, battles will show effective move types against Pokémon after defeating them, and PokeTCH which lets you use Hidden moves (HMs) freely without you using a pokemon as an HM slave! Really good stuff to accommodate the experience and then there is improved post game content. Solid game. Looking forward to the upcoming Pokémon Legends: Arceus and how that will turn out... Looks like a dramatic change.

8.5/10

@Damocles, I hear you are fan of the series too. Curious to hear what you think if you have play it yet.

Not sure, if this even counts as a video game anymore

Hey @ZFire,

So far I've played Fire Red, Emerald and (most recently) Sword.

I'd say the Pokémon games are pretty much the best game series ever invented for handheld consoles, but really, my continued patronage boils down to the fact I am no longer able to enjoy non-TBS games (for various reasons linked to tinnitus, anxiety and time constraints), and I carry a lot of grievances with the series in general, being that all the games seem to have their own glaring flaws.

For example, with Fire Red and Emerald, I seem to recall that gaining experience was arduous and became overly repetitive. One of my worst experiences was being stuck in Cerulean City for days, having to play endless battles with Weedles and Caterpies so I could beat Gary and move on in the game.

With Sword, what frustrated me were the Dynamax battles; the fact that you couldn't skip the battle animations and (as I was playing it in single player mode) how you'd be teamed up with the sh*ttest AI team imaginable, that would literally try to sabotage you every time.

I was also seriously underwhelmed by the Battle Tower "reward" at the end, and feel like the opening up of EVs and IVs to players has overcomplicated the game. Playing Pokémon prior to knowing of EV and IV reminds me of the difference between watching the films Cube (1997) and Cube 2: Hypercube (2003); no one wants a damn hypercube jumping around 4 dimensions, a cube with a million chambers shifting around infinitely is enough to be thinking about on it's own.

Anyway, this entire rant makes me sound like I hate the series or something... which I don't. But there is a lot I'd change about it if I could.

That said, I've just bought Pokémon: Let's go Eevee! so yeah. (*TーT)b

Original Nintendo DS with... is it Brain Training? or just Sudoku?
A bit of both ;) The Sudoku is evil, though. It won't give you a hint on where you've gone wrong and holds out until the very last box to let you know that you've messed up somewhere along the way. It annoyed me to the point I went analog and invested into a Sudoku book :D

I loved Horizon, and can't wait for the sequel!

I am currently playing Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, which is amazing graphic wise and gameplay wise, and finished Lost Judgment recently (although, I still have some side cases to finish).

The latter is a detective game set in Tokyo and Yokohama, and I highly recommend it if you like the Yakuza franchise (I was doubtful at first, but now I even prefer the Judgment games over the Yakuza ones).

Currently playing Horizon Zero Dawn on Ultra Hard mode for my first playthrough. Basically punishing myself lol.
Just in time for Forbidden West assuming you have a PS4/5. I would lower the difficulty though. Ultra Hard is for a second play through on new game+.

HZD has the best combat in any open world game Ive seen. Specifically, the battles against the machines are all high quality. Taking them out requires strategy and experimentation and all that stuff can be explored to your heart's content. Nothing is more satisfying than taking out a Thunderjaw. Puts Monster Hunter to shame at times. Combat against human enemies are a travesty though. Completely brain dead easy and leave a lot to be desire. The sequel looks to be improving immensely in that regard. I like the mystery behind the story too.

I've never been more disappointed with a game like Pokemon Sword. I'm convinced the story was written by a 5 year old. Chairman Rose and his motivations? What the hell? The godawful stamp system? The Wild Area was so underutilized. It's just a lot of ugly empty space with Pokémon that pop up magically when you get close enough. It does such a terrible job of showcasing Pokémon in their natural habitat. They just stand there or walk around in circles. I wanted to see towns, villages, routes, trainers, secrets, pokemon wildlife interactions, etc...

Your rival, Hop wants to become a research assistant by the end of the game... So random lol. I agree with the Dynamax battles, though I will say I do like the battle music for it.

Mate, you are not a pure masochist unless you have played this game:

I had that game on the Super Nintendo when I was a kid. It was called Super Probotector and the main characters were robots instead of men, but it was the same game. I played it to death, basically. Remember it quite well, it was difficult but we took what we could get back then.

Aargh, one of the most difficult ever on HARD mode, which I think you need to play to really beat it and get the true ending. I will probably never do it... :)
I did it! Twice! :D

NICE! (y)

1 or 2-players?
Just 1. But I have to say that beating the original God of War on God Mode was harder. PS2. Got a few complaints from my landlord for that back in 2006, because of the celebrating "YEEEEESSSS!" when Ares finally went down.

Yeah I heard that game is difficult, never played myself.

My biggest feats in gaming are probably:

GoldenEye for N64: Beat all levels on 00 Agent and unlocked every single cheat.

La-Mulana 1 and 2: Beaten on Hard.

My biggest feat is easily to get the secret ending in Shin Megami Tensei: Lucifer's Call.

Jesus Christ, Lucifer was a difficult boss. Just preparing for that fight alone took me an extra month. The fight itself took 4 days.

Completing the entire game was like 3+ months, over 200 hours easily. It was a really fun experience but I doubt I'll ever do it again.

Currently playing Resident Evil Village.

The game takes place in Romania and I'm learning a lot of interesting things about the country.

-Romanian people are gorgeous.
-Their currency is Lei or Leu.
-They have a traditional dish called Ciorbă de legume. (Tasty looking vegetable soup.)
-Castles, Castles, and more Castles.
-A lot of vampires live in Romania which would explain why Romanians age so well. *Cough* @aura *Cough*

Enjoyable game so far although not as scary as previous entries (PS1 classics in particular).

Respect to you @AbeS, I tried to do this when I was 13 but never got past Jungle.

Worst part was, my ultra-competitive "friend" in secondary school (mentioned here: https://www.tinnitustalk.com/posts/620716) managed to complete them all (like yourself), and of course that was another battle he won in a war I never wanted to be part of.

I just could never get past those guards and their sentry guns in 00 Agent; a regret that haunts me more than all the insanely loud concerts I attended, to this day. :arghh:

@AbeS and @Damocles's friend after completing all levels in 00 Agent: give me something harder next time!

To be honest, I don't think I even beat the game on Secret Agent when I was a child, the completion happened maybe 5-6 years ago. ;)

Back then it seemed almost impossible to complete it all, but me and my brother got determined to finally do it.

Playing with someone also helps, so you can hand over the controller when you get too frustrated/pissed off. :arghh:

If I remember it correctly, the trick on the sentry guns in the Jungle is to shoot them before you even see them. You need to figure out where they are by shooting into the fog basically.

A feat on its own: On the final level, Egypt, we didn't know you are supposed to find the Golden Gun, so I actually managed to kill Baron Samedi once with regular weapons, but died shortly after.
