My PS4 sounds like a jet engine lol.
Yeah, I had a PS4 Pro, the sound it made was just as you described. It was initially quiet, but over time the fan noise got worse. The most obnoxious thing I've ever heard. Uncapped frame rate makes the fan speed go berserk. I dealt with it using headphones during pre hypy times... now I can't do that anymore lolm

Yeah for real. I just deal with it and the squealing it accompanies lol.

Anyone complete Cyberpunk since the 1.5 patch? I'm about 15 hours in and liking it.
Unfortunately, I dropped this game during its initial release. Game was a unmitigated disaster at the time and I could only muster 1 hour of playtime because the bugs/glitches rendered the game unplayable. I hear it's much more playable now with all the recent patches. Maybe I'll return to it at some point.

Nintendo has a eShop sale. Slay the Spire is on sale for £7.99 - UK link/US link.

As I've been saying, I really recommend this game.

40 hours into Elden Ring so far. It's turning out to be one of the greatest open world games I've ever played. Miyazaki is a visionary.
Not very into multiplayer, but I love stories, so... Horizon Zero Dawn, The Last of Us, Titanfall 2.
Have you played Forbidden West yet?

It looks amazing. I hope to play it one day. Don't have a console for it yet.

I'm currently playing Dark Souls II, and I have been totally obsessed with it the last few days. A really great game, and I've heard many people that ranks it as the worst in the series. That bodes well for the third game.

I really hate that I can't experience it with sound though... I think it's really important for setting the tone in these games.

Have you played all the "Soulsborne" games?

That's awesome. The Souls games are very minimalist in regards to sound mixing, so you're honestly not missing much especially in Dark Souls 2.

But, yeah Dark Souls 2 is a interesting one as it has the most polarizing opinions on best/worst of any game series. For me, it's the weakest out of the bunch, but it's still a good game nonetheless. Miyazaki wasn't at the helm when making this game and it clearly showed. It lacks the charm, atmosphere and intricate level design that was seen in Demon Souls and Dark Souls 1. I also didn't like how the adaptability stat was tied to I-frame dodging. The higher the adapt level, the more i-frames you add to your dodge. Something like I-frames should be left alone like seen in the previous games. The rolling/evading enemy attacks just didn't feel right to me.

But even then, it has somewhat of a cult following where some fans feel it's the best one. It has an insane amount of build diversity, explores interesting mechanics like soul memory, and offers some of the best multiplayer in the series.

Yes. I've been a fan since Demon's Souls (PS3) and I always look forward for what FromSoftware has in store next. My top three in no particular order: Elden Ring, Sekiro: Shadow Dies Twice, Bloodborne. Elden Ring is looking to be the best out of the bunch.

I have finished the game now and I can see why it's the least popular. There are some really cool areas and there are some that are really, really frustrating. Many bosses go down too easily and often I didn't get the same satisfaction that I remember from the first Dark Souls when beating a really tough boss. Sometimes I even have more problems killing a random NPC invader, haha.

I also beat one part of the DLC-content and it was a real increase in challenge. The boss where you have to fight three dudes at once gave me a headache. :banghead:

I totally agree about the i-frames. I am glad I asked my brother for some general advice because I was dying a lot in the beginning before putting any points into adaptability. Apparently he went through the whole thing without knowing about it.

Cool!

Am I right in thinking that Sekiro is one of the more challenging ones? I heard from some that they gave up on the final boss fight.

I think I will try the original Demon's Souls when I'm done with Dark Souls II.

It's crazy how addicting these games can be. I played an 8 hour session the other night...

It is amazing. First game to engross me in five years. So atmospheric and plays great since they fixed it.

Shrine of Amana I presume? God that annoyed me. Also the Black Gulch.

Demon Souls is great. 2 handing weapons gives you much more increased damage, so keep that in mind.

Sekiro is objectively one of the hardest games in the last 2 decades lol. It's like playing a rhythm game at times. You will get punished for playing Sekiro like it's Dark Souls, so if you're constantly backing away from bosses, it will likely go bad for you. Instead, you need to confront them head on utilizing deflect and parry techniques. It's crazy lol, but rewarding as hell. Get the skill, Mikiri counter ASAP!

I haven't been posting as frequent here on Tinnitus Talk. That's partly due to Elden Ring as it has been consuming my life... I've already clocked in 100+ hours... and I was told that I'm still halfway through the game rofl. I have a sorcerer build going on, and I'm wrecking havoc. Someone needs to slow me down...

Also Kingdom Hearts 4 reveal was whack. I liked it when the franchise was simple and clean...

That is one, Frigid Outskirts is another... At least I liked the bosses.

Black Gulch is not fun either, but thankfully it is very short.

I think I'm done with Dark Souls 2 now. All bosses are defeated. Don't think I will bother with New Game+.

If Dark Souls 1 is a 10/10, I give this a 8/10.

Thanks! I will.

That sounds daunting! Haha. Especially for someone who plays Dark Souls defensively with a shield. I never got the hang of parrying.

As it should be. ;)

Elden Ring slaps.
Elden Ring is my first From Software and I can say that I loved it (mmmhhh that sentence is a bit... weird :cautious:).

I just "felled" ;) the last boss with a double sword bleed/faith build and I can't wait to start a new game with a completely different build.

I always played RPGs (in front of a screen or around a table with friends, beers and chips) but I never played From Software games before due to their reputation of being too hard.

Honestly, I rage quitted several times and it's a miracle my pad didn't ended up smashed on the wall :)

It's slang terminology(common in the US). When something "slaps", it means that it's really fucking good and thats the case with Elden Ring. After 160 hours of playtime, I've finally completed the game and its the best From Software game to date.

The final boss is one of the greatest finales I've seen to date. It's a combination of one of the best 1v1 human sized fights into a magnificent giant boss fight. The fight with the Elden Beast is some of the best audio-visual presentation we've ever seen in a Miyazaki game honestly. You can tell they've improved tremendously on Giant boss fights (Rykard, Fire Giant, Elden Beast).

Old School RuneScape is such a strong timekiller.
Oh yeah, I would spend 8-10 hours each day chopping yew logs back in the day. Got my 99 WC lvl and my sexy woodcutting cape. I don't have it in me anymore. I'm old AF.

My favorite is the Metro 2033 series so far. That being said, considering tinnitus as a factor, I think it's safe to say that there are less hair cells in the Moscow Metro than there are people. Tunnel fighting and explosions has to have shred people's hearing.

Capcom Franchise Rankings:

RE2 Remake > RE4 > RE2 > RE3 > RE 7 > RE 1 > RE:Code Veronica > RE 8 > RE 3 Remake > RE 5 > RE6
Ada is my waifu btw.

DMC 3 > DMC 5 > DMC 4 > DMC 1 > DMC 2
Trish is my waifu btw.

SF3 > SF2 > SF4 > SF 5 > SF
Chun-Li is my waifu btw.

AA 1 > AA 3 > AA 2 > AA: Spirt of Justice > AA: Apollo Justice > AA Dual Destinies
Mia Fey is my waifu btw.

* Haven't played The Great Ace Attorney games yet, so my apologies for not including them.

MM 9 > MM 2 > MM 3 > MM 8 > MM 1 > MM 7 > MM 10 > MM 4 > MM 6 > MM 5
No waifus though.

MM X > MM X4 > MM X2 and then fu*k the rest
No waifus though.

Bonus:

Dino Crisis > Dino Crisis 2
Regina is the only waifu available and she's all my mine boys.

I've always wanted to play these games, but I always hear about the "ammo as money" thing and for some reason that stresses me out. It looks like a very unique shooter and looks gorgeous too.

The ammo as money is actually a very easy thing. You have a separate pool of ammo that doubles as your money. You can choose to use it in combat for more damage. The only time it switches to this pool in combat without your input is when you are out of normal ammo. Otherwise you have to manually decide to use it. They're referred to as Military Grade Rounds or MGR. Some of my favorite runs are ones where I never buy weapons or ammo and solely rely on scavenging in levels. In the Redux versions of the first two games there are keys that open safes with a good amount of ammo in them. I've reached a pool of 1000+ MGR in both games because of that. Though near the end of 2033 the game just throws MGR at you because there are no vendors so it isn't much of an achievement. If you play Exodus the MGR system is entirely absent from gameplay. It's only mentioned in passing as it is something exclusive to Moscow. The games are really good from a storytelling perspective. I'd say playing the Redux versions is a better starting point than the original Last Light or 2033. The original 2033 is a very different game from its Redux version while the Last Light differences are almost non-existent.
