Favourite Works of Art

And the cover of Harrow County Issue 7, by Tyler Crook.
This piece of art is as breathtaking in its simplicity as it is disturbing content wise. I know it doesn't really match the scene but when I first looked at it I was thinking, Well, hello Carrie!

Some of the pieces of art I had up / that had me in awe over the years:

Hugo Simberg 's The Wounded Angel.

Werner Sahm's Bergkulisse.

Pretty much all exhibits by Damien Hirst's Treasured of the Wreck of the Unbelievable.

And, last but not least, weird and disturbing as they are, many of the paintings by HR Giger.

In line with the themes of favourite quotations, favourite books, favourite pieces of music etc…

I would like to suggest:
'Favourite Works of Art.'
What a brilliant idea, thanks for putting it out there!

On YouTube there is a charming video of Steve Hanks talking about the pain of divorce, and being a full time father with his children to bring up.

A very expensive book as you can see, but I am shopping around to pick up a copy.

It's a 'must have' for me.

A very gentle soul, painting beautiful women, in water colours, with incredible technique and sensitivity.

Art simply does not get any better.

Another piece by Frank Frazetta, Madame Derringer.

Thank you!

Harrow County has lots of great art. I'll definitely post more.

Issue 7's cover is hands down my favourite comic cover of all time.

That's a stupid move by those municipalities. Some people seem to think it's a symptom of decay, while it should be considered as a welcome addition to the cityscape. Why don't you show us some lovely street art (or what remained of it) from your beautiful country?
Look what they did just next to my house, just a couple of weeks ago :) (I live in a coastal city with a big fishing port)

This is really awesome. And they did other ones in another part of my street ^^ I'll show them later.

Artists are James Bullough, Onur and Aaron Li Hill

Wow! :woot:

Where do you live?

Unfortunately, in my town we don't have such thing as "street art". Just dirt, garbage and vandalism.

I suppose the artists have to ask for the owner permission?

Very nice water colours.

I think I have seen some art in that style here but art posted there comes and goes. There is not a sort of "archive" I would say:

Artwork: Buy Original Art Online, Paintings & More | Saatchi Art

It's an online gallery where professional and amateur artists post their work for sale or just to show it.

These are by Mimi Leung, illustrator, art for advertising, etc Since she works as an illustrator and creates art for commercial brands, I would love it if she did tshirts or posters:

Boulogne sur Mer, north of France. Where do you live in Romania? I spent some time in Timisoara but didn't see street art there either ^^

The saddest painting I have ever seen.

Description
'The Weeping Woman is an oil on canvas painting by Pablo Picasso, which he created in France in 1937. The painting depicts Dora Maar, Picasso's mistress and muse.'

This image depicts more grief than any photorealist exhibit could portray IMHO.

Well living with Picasso sure wasn't easy.

Constanta, south east of Romania, on the Black Sea coast.

Unfortunately, I wouldn't recommend visiting Constanta, at least not for the moment.
Maybe in a few years things will change, but I wouldn't get my hopes up.

Timisoara, on the other hand, is another story.

I'm very much looking forward to that :)
In which case, here's two more.

Not sure what Issue this is, but I'm pretty sure it's from Volume 2.

And, IIRC, this is the cover to issue 19.

(My next post will be a bit less ghoulish... probably.)

"TheEmbrace" by Egon Schiele.

I adore this painting.

In my imagination, this poor guy is suffering from severe tinnitus, and his loving partner is soothing his head with her gentle caresses.
Agreed @Jazzer.

We're coming at this from very similar angles.

In my imagination: this poor guy is suffering from severe multi-tonal reactive tinnitus, and he's just told this hot random girl he met on the internet 2 hours ago, all about it; she feels so bad for him, she's decided he deserves some sexy-time.

I think we're definitely on the same page! (y)

What a smooth transition from the Chit Chat sexy thread :D

Well for sure Aura.

He usually wanted to rearrange your face and put both eyes on the same side.

(Rumour has it that he painted Brigitte Bardot, and put both tits on the same side!!!)
