Cause of Tinnitus
Possibly allergies
Saw my PCP yesterday, got steroids (which so far haven't helped). Was feeling pretty good despite the fact that he didn't seem hopeful and didn't give me any sleep aids.

Bad night of sleep last night and my tinnitus wasn't even that bad.

Feeling anxious now, irrational worries.

And I've been doing so well recently, staying calm despite sleeping poorly.

I know I can beat this and move on with my life, whatever happens, but today I'm struggling a bit.

I understand, @Tom71 .:huganimation:

Getting a good night's sleep is so important. Why did your doctor not give you something to help you sleep?

Thanks

He felt I should try Benadryl before the prescription stuff
Tbh I know the pills aren't a long term solution

Try some natural sleep aids from the chemist over the weekend see if it that helps.
Love glynis

I think @glynis makes a good point, maybe look into some natural aids. I know you like to get out and enjoy nature, Tom. Perhaps a good long walk after dinner will help you sleep better. This works for me, maybe it will help you, too.

One more thing, have you tried Sleepy Time Tea?

Good news

This burst of anxiety might well be related to the steroids, the nurse is going to consult with the doctor and see. Would explain why I feel so energetic

I can definitely relate to the steroids related anxiety. It drove me up the walls so much I had tachycardia. I can assure you that this will subside as you lower the dose.

Maybe look into ordering some CBD oil, which is a very good alternative to sleeping pills and the like.

I work in health care so that might not be OK for me

Well, the psychoactive component of cannabis, THC, is not present in these oils. I do not think they would show up in a drug test. But I completely understand why you would be reserved about this.

Hmm
The what is CBD oil?

Tom, recognizing the anxiety is a big step and having an attitude that you're going to beat it is too. You're on the right path! Sometimes having someone acknowledge our condition is enough to make us feel better. My first trip to the ENT was horrible but my second trip to a different ENT was better even though the news was exactly the same. The second ENT and audiologist seemed more compassionate and human.

I know what I have to do...calm down and get on with my life. And I'm getting there, but I'm not there yet

Tom, moving on can take time. I've had t since March and I'm still working toward that. Do your best but don't push too hard or you'll get frustrated. If you have a bad day always remember we start fresh the next one. Good luck!

Have calmed down now, heart has slowed

Doc wants me to take the steroid in divided doses to avoid that effect

And I've managed not to hear my T most of the day. Not sure if it's still there or not and not going to check :)

Hi @Tom71,

Yesterday after I ran across an article yesterday on Mercola.com entitled, "Is Poppy Seed Tea Safe to Drink?" I've been drinking some since then, and have had mixed, but encouraging results. I feel a bit calmer, and my t initially decreased modestly--but still mostly at baseline. But the intensity seems less.
