I'm in need of a bit of support. Three months ago I woke up with ringing in both ears - completely out of the blue. (I do not listen to loud music, and am protective of my hearing.)
After two weeks of waiting, I visited a doctor. He spent no time with me, only saying I had flyid trapped behind my eardrum. He gave me a cortizone shot and sent me on my merry way.
Fast forward two months and my tinnitus and ear pain persists, with no change whatsoever. So O visited a second doctor who explained to me that I had fluid trapped behind both eardrums, and also that I had sevete allergies, which likely caused the buildup.
She perscribed me two separate allergy pillsand a nasal spray. She also said, yes! The tinnitus would go away but it will take time for the fluid to reabsorb.
That was one month ago. I am still not noticing any improvement and I am worried sick that this is permanant. I've read so many horror stories of ear tubes, glue ear, ETD, TMJ, you name it. I'm a healthy, young woman - I've never had allergies before...
So far I've lost 15lbs, become completely disinterested in my favorite hobbies and have the hardest time getting to sleep.
Has anyone had this before? Does it ever go away? Any encouragement is appreciated.
