Frequency Therapeutics — Hearing Loss Regeneration

So after this study finishes which will be like 2 years away we still won't be any the wiser if it works or not?
What are you talking about ? I wrote in my post that the study will finish in October this year. Last date of data collection is November so we could expect result maybe in January. I think that's why frequency said that they will start the efficiency trials in 12 to 18 months, they're waiting for the result of this trial.

Isn't this a kind of pre-phase-1 test? To test method of delivery? So the actual phase-1 test is still to start mid-2018.
It's written phase 1 trial. Any adverse effect will be noted.
I think the next trial will be a phase 1b/2 similar to the Audion trial, so they'll test efficiency as well.

It is a bit irrevelant from subject but I want to ask; Can we participate trial from abroad? Will they announce if they need volunteer?

I think it depends of the trial. For the Audion trial it is specified that people participating must be from Grèce, Germany or the U.K.

Hopefully for Frequency there is going to be one trial in the U.S and one in Europe.

"Something I learned while working with renowned MIT professor, Dr. Robert S. Langer, over the last decade is that you need to focus on solving problems that have a big and meaningful impact," said David Lucchino, president and CEO of Frequency Therapeutics. "As CEO, I have taken to heart Dr. Langer's mantra when considering which projects to pursue: If you create something that makes a major difference, the customers and money will come."
Hope it didn't really take him a decade, working with a professor, for him to come to this conclusion..

Steve Jobs, Bill Gates, Page and Brin, amongst others, taught us that in the late 90's.

Bad news for the Frequency trial... The date of last participant enrolment has been pushed back to 28/01/2017 from 15/10/2017 because they have trouble recruiting patient.

That's not really a surprise considering the inclusion criteria...

That's insane. How can you not find 13-15 people? I think there is a bigger issue here. With all the people posting on these forms, and pleading on the internet for a cure, you would think enrollment would happen very quickly.

I would sign up in a heartbeat if I could, but according to doctors my hearing is "Just Fine"

If your hearing is just fine why would you enrol in a heartbeat?

Plus you're not going to have a cochlear implant. Can you at least read the seventh line of the trial's website and stop spreading misinformation and false speculation?

I understand that, I was just making a point. How man severely deaf people are there in the world that need cochlear implants? The answer to that, Hundreds to thousands to Millions, and they cant get 15 people? Sounds like they need new recruiters

Surely this isn't a big surprise. First, these dates are just guesses - particularly the endpoints. Second, I'm not sure how frequently cochlear implantation is done, but it seemed optimistic to get even 10 people in the space of a few months who would qualify and agree to participate at one location. I wouldn't be surprised if the date slips further.

This is being done at 1 location. It would make no sense to have multiple locations for such a small study.

To get rid of the noise......isn't that why we are all here? I was making a point, that if this was in the US, and was aimed at hearing loss, I would in role.

I understand that this test is not to fix hearing, it's just to understand how much of the drug makes it to the cochlear.

I think everyone is missing the point I'm trying to make. If the internet, and sites like these are so full of people suffering and willing to do anything. Then common sense would say, why are they having such a hard time recruiting people?

I bet there is a site on the internet somewhere just like this for people that need cochlear implants. Maybe frequency needs to offer travel, or some kind of surgery package if they are having such a hard time recruiting.

At the end of the day, they are pushing dates not because they cant get people, but because they were not ready or something fell through.

Well it does make sense if it takes 6-12 months to find enough recruits. Even on first glance it looked optimistic to meet the required deadline for the data collection with only one location. With the tough inclusion criteria it would make sense and speed up the data collection to have at least 3 locations 1 Sydney, 1 in North America, and 1 in Europe. The trade off is cost versus time. Still this company is better governed than most so I'm not too upset.

Why not just enroll the most desperate of us. Stick something in us!
I´ll sign anything!
Nothing to lose, really. Not ethical?
Is dying in the "Tinnitus Cure waiting Room", with a possible cure next door, ethical?

The people that sign up for this have nothing to gain and possibly something or everything to lose. They are getting cochlear implants already and they are being asked to be test subjects. This is only being administered to see if there are any negative effects of the drug. I can't say that I would be lining up to try this out unless there was a chance that it could restore my hearing. That's why they can't find enough people. If they were testing on people with severe hearing loss in an effort to try and restore hearing, they would have lots of test subjects.

I disagree, if they offer a substantial financial reward they have something to gain. ;)

Agreed, and I don't think anyone knows how much they are offering, but it would have to be substantial and I don't think they are going high enough or they would already have their test subjects.

I hope this doesn't push back the trials here in the US.

Which is why having one site is a little head scratching. There are probably many poor deaf people in the US who would travel/fly to their headquarters in Boston to get a CI with the Frequency drug trial included if they offer X dollars compensation and threw in a discount Jet Blue ticket.
