I posted on here that I had a Silent Scan using the GE MRI. The website for the Silent Scan, as well as their YouTube videos, indicate that the MRI is only a few decibels above the room ambient sounds. In the YouTube video, you can hardly hear the MRI at work. That was NOT my experience with the Silent Scan. It was loud! Well above ambient sound and maybe only slightly quieter than a regular MRI. I chose this MRI based on their claims and my fears as a tinnitus sufferer. They endangered my health and hearing with their false claims.

I wrote GE and this was their response:

Hello Josh,

Thank you for your inquiry. GE Healthcare cannot provide medical advice. Please consult your healthcare provider.

BE FOREWARNED! THE SILENT SCAN IS NOT SILENT!

@AmericanJosh thank you for letting us know about this as I was instructed to get an MRI.

You're welcome. I have heard that Toshiba makes one that really, really is silent, but when I wrote them, they said they cannot provide any information on providers that have their devices. Great marketing Toshiba! WTH is wrong with these companies?

Also, while I am not a doctor, I have heard and read that ENTs are quick to refer for an MRI. Unless you have only unilateral tinnitus or some other concerning indication, like tinnitus from an unknown cause, then an MRI is overkill.

Stick with the Canon's. Thats the silent one you want. The Vantage Titan and Galan models.

Don't believe me? Look at their advertising. A person is sleeping inside of one during a scan.

No but seriously, these are the best ones out there.

Is that man holding his ears in your avatar because the popcorn behind him is popping too loud?

Then it must be true :) How do I find a location with these? I wrote Canon and they said they won't tell you what provider has them. Why wouldn't a company put a list of providers on their website? They cite privacy. How stupid!

Call the Canon or Toshiba medical (they merged) sales office close to you and ask them over the phone which hospital near you have bought any machine of the Vantage series

Tell them you need a quiet machine due special ear issues

Phone is better than mail for this
