9 hours on the road. About pretty much all of it on the interstate. I assume ear plugs? Any other advice? Any kind of earplugs that would be best? Recommendations for a certain amount of NRR?

If you have the money to spare, the Bose noise cancelling works pretty well. They cancel out more low frequencies like those generated by engines and road noise. I use the QC20 ear buds (no music) when my ears start to become irritated in the car. They work pretty well for me.
Would you mind giving an amazon link?
Are you driving? Is it 9 hours driving for one day, or nine hours total for the entire trip?
I have taken many road trips since losing my hearing. Usually about seven hours of driving in a day. I have not noticed much difference between using earplugs versus ear muffs. However, I very rarely wear them in the car. It's really not that loud. There are a lot of factors, like the vehicle tires and the road condition, but not bad. It's nothing like attending a loud concert.I am a passenger. 9 hours in a day. Not split up aside from obvious stretch/bathroom/lunch breaks. And of course return trip in a few days. Which will be another 9 hours.
