Going Under the Knife Tomorrow

Dude, gnarly. Best of luck and prayers heading your way!! Man I hope it works out 100% and maybe your T will fade! That would be awesome!! You got a bunch of good people here rooting for you!!(y)
Thanks Jeff Mail, I sure hope it does to. The people on here are amazing. I am really really grateful for the people on here. This is where 100% of any of my support comes from.

And do you also have H ?

What about working, can you manage it ?

Me I cannot at this point of my life...
I've only missed one day of work since onset, it was due to no sleep. I work around PowerLines trimming trees so have to be somewhat with it. I have to work cause I have a wife and 10 year old son. It's work or be have my family homeless.

Everything seems louder than it should to me, my ear would thump putting dishes away. I stay away from anything loud. Noises didn't make my ears hurt but it just seemed way louder. I don't know if that's h.

I'm trying to think positive, but the what if... is killing me.

Hey, @Jake007, its that "what if?" that's the danger zone. I know its hard, but try deliberating redirecting your thoughts.

Tell yourself: "Hey, so what's the worse thing that can happen? I am fixated on the worst possible outcome. But its very likely that will NOT happen! That this surgery will help me improve and feel better! I am taking steps toward improvement and healing."

Tell yourself you are NOT going to lose your job, your family will NOT be homeless. Even if you did, you would find a way to provide for them. Hey if you have been strong enough to work with T so far... you will make it! Keep reminding yourself of this

Redirecting thinking is what cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) is all about and it can be really helpful. Consider getting a tape or download that you can listen to, that helps direct you away from anxiety. Here is one I use:

I have the tapes on panic attacks and stress relief.
Hugs to you. Keep us all posted. We care.

Thank you for your support, I will do my best to try not think that way. The support on this forum is incredible and a life saver.

Thinking of you Jake
Hope all went well for you...lots of love glynis....

Well I made it through surgery, he say he thinks he restored some hearing. I wont know till all this packing comes out in 3 weeks. 3 weeks of absolute hell. T blaring and nothing I can do about it. I'm hoping it'll settle down when the packing is out. Thank you everyone for all your support and prayers.

Jake: I just prayed that the sound would lessen during your recovery, your hearing be restored and once the packing is removed your tinnitus gone. God Bless. - douglas

Jake: Thank-you for the kind words. When I first started going through this I was in a bad way my friend. I think that slowly and surely I'm starting to get used to my condition of non-stop continuous eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee. I do believe the Lord will help us, he has helped me and I feel helped you too Jake. Have faith. If you do not mind me asking, do you have high frequency hearing loss from running the chainsaw?

I have mixed losses I believe, hopefully when my ear heals I will have gained 20 to 30db. If that happens, then the theory is the more hearing restored, the less the t. I just hate waiting.

That will be awesome if it works for you. We can just continue to pray for the best and keep our faith. Are your hearing losses from the chainsaw?

No, it's not from running a chainsaw my ent said. Cause my right ear is ok. Thank you for the prayers, this definitely is very very difficult at the moment.

There's quite a few. Ringing is the main issue. It's taking every last ounce of everything I got to somewhat cope. I just pray to God there will be improvement in the future.

@Jake007: I prayed you'd have relief. Maybe it is best to try and not focus on it. I know that is much easier said than done -- douglas
Thank you Douglas, I appreciate and am grateful for your support. It really does mean a lot to me. I've been trying to, and will keep trying.

@Jake007: you're welcome. Didn't you say you had (3) days to leave packing in? If that's so, you have (48) hours left. That will fly by. When they take the packing out the ringing will stop -

I wish it was only 3 days. It stays in until March 14 unfortunately. I just hope it'll be lower in volume when they do take it out.

Thats a little bit of time. Is your doctor going to see you prior to the 14 days? Hopefully he or she can to provide you with some positive feedback. What did they do to your ears Jake?

I don't see him till then. They took out a cholesteatoma, reinforced my eardrum. I can't remember what he did to try to restore some hearing. I'm calling tomorrow to find out and ask other questions. The only positive anything I get is from this forum.

Let me know how your conversation went with the doctors today - God Bless you Jake007
