Has Anyone Had Their Tinnitus Turn Into a High-Pitched Hissing?

Cause of Tinnitus
Loud noise
I initially had three tones: a low-pitched hum, a mid-pitched ringing, and a high-pitched hiss.

When I first got tinnitus 5 months ago, it was mainly the mid-pitched ringing. It seemed to come directly from my ears, and I noticed it was especially loud when I pressed my ears against pillows.

Now, it feels like the sound is in my brain. The mid and low-pitched tones have mostly faded, leaving only the high-pitched hiss. But the hiss no longer feels like it's coming from my ears; instead, it feels like the source is right behind my forehead. This shift happened gradually between months 2 and 5.

Has anyone else experienced this?

Yes, sometimes I still experience the high-pitched sound, but only at night. How did you get your tinnitus? Mine started after taking Amitriptyline.

Yes, I experience tones after spikes. Slight tones act as a kind of warning sign for me. For the most part, it's a high-frequency hiss, which I've gotten used to by now.
