I have heard cipro with bad side effects.ciprofloxacillin gifted me with tinnitus
ive needed to use keflex and macrodantin since with no effects on my t either way
Almost everything is ototoxic, but yeah it has very low ototoxicty reportsOver the years I've been prescribed these ones.
Amoxicillin
No side effects.
Ampicillin
No side effects.
Trimethoprim
I think this one spiked my T, and I was only taking it for 3 days! I can't know for sure though. It could have been a combination of infection and stress/anxiety that made my T worse. I don't think it has been listed as ototoxic.
Pivmecillinam/amdinocillin pivoxil
Probably no effect on T. I was given this one after Trimethoprim and I took it for nearly two weeks. Didn't seem to make any difference after Trimethoprim.
I have also used ear drops containing oxytetracyclin and polymyxin. These are apparently ototoxic, but as long as the ear drum is not perforated they should not be harmful.
I searched on the Internet for antibiotic that does not cause tinnitus but such a list does not exist so far as I can see. I may just have to take some risks and see what happens.
Kanamycin gave me tinnitus. I was told to avoid all antibiotics that end in "mycin" but it seems so many end in "mycin". When I check the Internet it seems that almost all antibiotics give tinnitus to someone or other. What I am looking for is a list of antibiotics that do not cause tinnitus but that does not seem to exist. Different drugs affect different people. I have a need for antibiotics now for an infected tooth that is very painful. I am wondering if I took a drug that ends in "mycin" maybe there have been some changes to drugs since I got my tinnitus way back in 1969.
