Cause of Tinnitus
Eustachian tube dysfunction
Hi Everyone,
In May 2016 I started to get an earache with a feeling of fullness. I went to the walk- in clinic and the doctor diagnosed me with Eustachian tube dysfunction. I had a slight roaring sound at the time. He prescribed a steroid nasal spray. Within in the next 2 months I saw 2 other doctors who diagnosed me with the same thing. I honestly think a ETD diagnosis means - We are not really sure what is going on with your ear. I was told it would clear up. Well here I am 6+ months later.

I have experienced ear/headache and ringing to some degree everyday since. The tinnitus does not really get to me. I usually turn on some music(not loud) or a fan but the earache and the tension headache that comes with it is really getting me down. As a result my neck and upper back are always sore. One of the doctors said my tympanic membrane is bulging. I have had some relief from massage and chiropractor. Just recently started acupuncture. I am hoping and praying that I wake up one day and it is gone as fast as it came.

I have an appointment with my GP in a few weeks - but I am feeling hopeless.

Thanks for listening and any help would be appreciated.

If your T is not that loud, that is a bonus in the battle living with T. Can the doctors trace the cause of the earache? The tension headache is often as a result of anxiety and stress. Try to take some natural alternatives to help with anxiety and also your sleep, such as Melatonin, Lemon Balm, Valerian, Hops, Catnips, Passion Flower, Chamomile, Lavender, Kava, etc. You can do google search or check Amazon.com for each of them to know how people review these products, and see if you can take them as a supplement. Check out this site on using natural herbs for helping to sleep or to calm the nerves. Take good care. God bless.

Hi- I am new here, and I am hoping to be of some help to those of you who have T. Mine started when I was in my 20's (I am 64 now) from rock concerts, loud music, ect. I learned to live with it. In never bothered me, ever. But, when I was diagnosed with an Acoustic Neuroma (tumor on the 8th cranial nerve-leading from the ear to the brain), I went crazy. I could not eat, I could not sleep; my T was going insane. And yet, it was *exactly* the same as before I was diagnosed. Nuts, right? Not really. The brain does strange things; and it can make you insane. I will say that my T got a bit louder due to the radiation I chose to treat my tumor. But, with the help of a therapist, who specialized in T, and also a masker which went in my ear, my brain went back to the way it was. I know this sounds strange, but according to a well known T specialist, T is not an "ear thing". It's a brain thing". Once I realized this, I was good to go. Hope this helps some of you! :rockingbanana:
