Hello everyone,

I've only had this high pitch tinnitus for the past two weeks. At first I was really pissed off because I almost always have worn ear plugs to concerts. But this time around the plan was sort of improvised and I didn't had any plugs at hand... long story short now I have this very loud buzzing that won't go away. It is very loud and wakes me up at 5am when the whole neighborhood is quiet.

What I tried at first was masking the noise with the TV until I fell asleep, but my wife was starting to get really upset about this. After four days of the Tinnitus I tried herbal chamomile infusion to some small success and for the last two days I've added cannabis to my dinner to help me achieve deeper sleep with a better degree of success when combined with the chamomile.

Even so, the loud noise wakes me up at 5am no matter what, so I've just started going to bed early. I guess it's a healthier sleeping habit anyway, but I can't help to wonder if it will ever get better for me, I'm so stressed I even yelled at one of my students, and I'm starting to fail as an event producer due to the constant noise.

I got here while researching for references to the "snake-oil" offers around the web. And joined because I know for a fact that being in a community does help somehow. I'll welcome any suggestions you may have. I'm just glad I found you all.

Welcome to TT.

When I first had T, sleeping became difficult. I would wake up every 2-3 hours. My sleep patterns were off. Eventually, this will get better.

Don't waste your money on "snake oil" offers. The information you will find here, I feel, you will find much more useful.

Keep reading the posts, and you will find some good information.

Hello @FrankMark ! - yes indeed... yesterday I had more Cannabis than I used to and it actually worsened everything.
Now I'm moving towards vitamin B, and I'm in the hopes of finally meeting a doctor tomorrow (I had really bad money problems for the past two weeks).

Thank you @Teri :D Is there any thread you think I should start from?

Hello Chinto, I would like to point out 3 medicines that are shown to work in many cases and that I know of.

The first is methylprednisolone or prednisone. (From what I know prednisone is used in the US and methylprednisolone is used in Europe for the same reason, I don't know about Mexico.)
This is a steroid. I know a 10 year old boy who completely got rid of tinnitus with this drug, he took it 2 weeks after the noise trauma. I have gotten it in ijections for a week and it really helped, it reduced more than 50% for me, it was 8 months after my T started. (I will go for another round a few months from now.)
For me it was in form of a drug called Medrol, which contains methylprednisolone, but I really don't know the differences between this and prednisone, if there is any. Prednisone thread of the forums:

The second one is piracetam (marketed as Nootropil and other names) which is the primary threatment option in my country (Hungary), and it has mixed reviews on the internet. I've gotten it in injections for 5 days about 3 days after the damage but it was seemingly uneffective for me. There is a thread on this forum but with not much information.

The third is NAC. This one can help preventing damage if taken before the noise and even restore some hearing if taken afterwards. This had successful researches in terms of prevention, but there is a bunch of info in this thread:

Well @Mosaik , I went to the doctor today and she injected me with a corticoid with no reference in this forums. Even so, I'm feeling much better already, it's only been 8 hours and the T has dropped about 50%, so it's looking good (still strong enough to hear it most of the time, but at least much easier to mask, I was able to drop the TV from "30" to "15" :) . I have an audiogram scheduled for tomorrow and I have a second appointment on Friday.

I'll let you know how this is going in the hopes to be able to go on with my life normally again, even if the T never quite totally goes away. Thank you again for being so supportive.

For some people the T goes back somewhat after the injection is out of the system, but since you got it really in time I think you have good chances of keeping it low. Be careful though, your ears are still sensitive.

Also, I forgot to mention that you can buy acetylcysteine/NAC without prescription. It has many drug names because it's very common, so I don't know how you can find it. I have 'ACC 200mg'. Here are some names on wikipedia:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Acetylcysteine#Dosage_forms

I wish you the best. (y)

Thank you really @Mosaik. I'll get it today if there's no bad interaction with the inyection. Yesterday I worked all day long and somewhere in the middle I got my audiogram. It's great news I guess, I had no hearing loss at all, actually, it seems I can hear as low as 4dB on both ears except on the most low frequencies, on which I got only as low as 17dB, still good said the Audiologist. I have an appointment with my specialist on Monday and she'll determine the treatment, she said we might try the Prednisona (that's the name in Mexico) but she wanted the audiogram and the injection results first.

Looking good. I just want the T to go as low as possible. Even if it never leaves me, lower is better and more manageable.

@dan "Fenix" and "Paris", they have it on system but not for sale.

On other news, my T it's not getting much better now, but at least it's getting a bit lower and I'm getting used to it. Better sleep as well. I have schedulled Hiperbaric Chamber sessions in the hopes of getting lower volume. :D

How are you doing these days?

I have also had an Prednisolone course at 6 weeks after a concert (but 4 weeks after the onset, for some reason the tinnitus started 14 days after the gig). I just finished tapering down from it now and the ringing has been subdued to a faint hiss.
