Tinnitus Since
Last few months
Cause of Tinnitus
Unknown
I found my way here like many others via. Tinnitus Terminator (scam).
Last few months driving me mad with ringing in the ear.
Waiting for a MRI scan from ENT but it's NHS - long wait and they don't seem that interested.
I have been researching ototoxicity and think the onset may be linked to my blood pressure tablets being increased from 5 mg a day now up to 20mg (10 of felodopine and 10 of ramipril).

Anyone here found any relationship with Tinnitus and medication?

Anyway I am going to stop taking ANY tablets for a while. I don't care if I die I don't want to live with this racket going on in my head all the time.

Anyway Best wishes all. I'll let you know if I find any improvement. If not you'll know I didn't make it;)

As a word of encouragement for those who are suffering.
About 8 or 9 years ago I lived in an industrial area and during the early mornings when I was awake but still in bed I could hear a sound like someone revving up an engine or a tractor.
I was convinced it was a local factory that ran a night shift.
I contacted them to ask what processes they were running and what machinery was making the noise.
They assured me that they ran no machinery at night.
Not trusting them I contacted the Local Authority to investigate. Their inspection confirmed there was no processes running during the night.

I went on holiday to rural France camping out in the country and the first morning I woke I said to my wife. "That b****dy engine driver has followed me all the way to France!"
That's when I knew I had tinnitus and the sound was in my head not external.

After about 6 months it disappeared and I have been free from any Tinnitus until recently but this is very different.
It can go just as it comes!

Thank you for sharing this story!

Hopefully, once you stop taking the medication that had this effect on you, your T will eventually (ears take forever to heal) disappear again.

Welcome to the forum. You may want to check sites on how to lower blood pressure naturally. There are supplements which can help. You can search the web for natural ways to lower blood pressure. Here is one such site: https://www.drweil.com/health-wellness/body-mind-spirit/heart/high-blood-pressure-hypertension/

@TornadoEar
You are mistaken about the NHS. You will get the best help and long term aftercare for tinnitus under the NHS. No private healthcare in the UK can match it believe me. Please do not think the NHS do not care. There is a perfectly good reason as to why your appointment to be seen at ENT is going to take a some time. Most ENT doctors prefer not to intervene too early when someone has "straight-forward" tinnitus. This is without additional problems such as: Dizziness, balance problems, pain in the ears or deafness.

The ear is a very delicate and sophisticated organ. The best treatment for tinnitus in the early stages. By this I mean up to the first six month, is to do absolutely nothing. Many people naturally habituate to tinnitus within the first 6 months to a year and it can go away. Please read my article on tinnitus by clicking on the link below. I advise you to read it in full and not to skim though it. Then you will understand the reason it doctors prefer to leave the auditory system and ears alone in the early stages of tinnitus.

If your tinnitus was caused by noise exposure, then I advise you not to use headphones even at low volume.
All the best
Michael

Thanks Michael. I think my negative opinion of the NHS is probably because they seem completely overwhelmed. Over an hour wait to be seen! And a very brief consultation without one single question about how I was feeling or my symptoms.
