As it's getting hot and my unit unfortunately does not have central air I was wondering if anyone has advice for sleeping with sound sensitive tinnitus?

My T unfortunately increases in volume to fans, air conditions, white noise, etc. It's a challenging one to say the least.

For any other people suffering with sound sensitive tinnitus please let me know what helps you.

I slept with fans my entire life until about a year ago; now I generally fall asleep without one. (This didn't have anything to do with my T, I just got sick of dealing with the fan, and my wife has never really like it). I do notice that my T "seems" quieter when there isn't any whitenoise or anything on to compete with it.

If you really need distracting noise of some kind, maybe you could use cricket & nature sound MP3s of some kind?

Is your problem that you need background noise of some kind, or that you need to run a noisy window AC or something because it's so hot, or something else?

I say give in and get an ac unit. My t is reactive but I still sleep with a noisy ac unit. Its just too hot. The plus is it masks my T the minus is is its hard to turn off in the morning and get back to life and the electricity bill goes up!

I usually turn on the fan full speed and air conditioner as well. It does my job fairy good although I can still hear my T clear crisp. There are wide varieties of water sounds available out there and some of them won't react with your tinnitus its so soothing ! You can also think about purchasing a small tabletop water fountain it will help you distract. Generally, go for water sounds of any kind it helps in my opinion

I've recently run into the same thing. My airconditioner, the TV, or a fan makes the high 11k ish tone more intense. I'm new to T but seem to be able to let it go except under these conditions. It's quite intense.

Are we suppose to habituated to this condition? Or is should we be avoiding it?

Thanks anybody

Small home fountains? Worked well for me when i had problems with sleep at the beginning, but sound of water was distracting me and quiet relaxing.
