Here I Go Again

Yeah i have a 30db dip at 4khz inboth ears but T only in the right?? Had mri all normal, rest of my hearing is in normal range but left is better. I cannot imagine what t must be like for people who have 50db or more dips..

I wish I had T only in my right ear. I had multiple tones in both ears and a very reactive T in my left ear. Right is not as reactive but is louder when it's quiet or when wearing ear plugs.

I do think these hearing tests are a bit old fashioned, they're very narrow band and only up to 8k I think. For huge hearing loss I guess they work but with small hearing loss or with high frequency hearing loss they're not that good.

I don't see how a bike rim on the floor can be that loud, it's not even close to your ear if it hit the floor to make that noise. The wind in your ears while you ride is probably louder and worse for your ears than a short burst of noise like the one that you describe.

How bad is your H? Or is it not H, just anxiety? You seem to be able to ride a bike with all that wind noise everyday, maybe your ears can take more than you think.

I do wear some protection for the wind when cycling:

Heavy metal rim on a tiled floor in a small shop is very loud, as I've experienced for myself. There were some other people in the shop and they jumped as well meaning it wasn't just me.

Anyway I'm still having a huge spike in my right ear and when listening I can definitely hear a new tone as well that wasn't there before. I'm really screwed now.

Haha, mate, just go to Croatia and spend some time chilling at the beach. The fans will be sitting inside cafes and bars getting wasted and watching football. Croatia has 100s of miles of beaches, including areas without screaming kids. Or go to one of the islands, it's super quiet there. Rent a bike or something and do some tours along the smaller roads

You're just coming up with ridiculous excuses like this to feel miserable all the time, as if it is ingrained in the persona you created for yourself. It's just become a comfort zone now. If it wasn't for T, you'd feel miserable about something else.

Well I decided to go anyway for a week, next week. Hopefully I will not regret it.

Good call, Just avoid the major cities and enjoy the seaside there. order some cevapcici from the grill somewhere outside and relax.
I'm sure some noise 'incident' will occur, but in that case just think you are at least on holiday in a nice environment. Just be wary of scooters, that's something rather common over there.

that's awesome, LeQuack! I hope you have the best time you possibly can.

I personally don't necessarily do well when I visit places where I don't have friends/family... are you visiting people? If not, just make an effort to go out and interact with the public, and do tourist things!

And -- try to keep some perspective on your relative luck. You've got some really significant physical problems, which is BS and I wish none of us had to deal with this. On the other hand, if you were to go someplace like Afghanistan, you could meet a lot of people with really severe hearing loss and tinnitus, who have literally zero ability to even drive out to their own countryside for a week, let alone go visit Europe.

Affluence may not be able to buy happiness, but it can pay for a lot of distraction and toys.

FWIW, nothing in those videos is anything that I personally would bother to wear earplugs for, but YMMV.

I guess your ears are much stronger than mine. Even a single whistle is like 120-130 dB very near, not to mention all the car horns, yelling and firecrackers. Must have ears of steel to endure hours of that and not get hearing damage.

But anyhow, my right ear spike is still going on and it's not looking to be getting any better. Before the accident my right ear was doing okay, now it's a mess, very hard to sleep since it keeps waking me up. Can't believe I'm going to be suffering even more all my life because I went to a bike shop.

Well I leave for my vacation today. Still don't know if it was a good idea, because I still have this horrible spike in my right ear and it seems to be actually getting worse. Even since the loud noise at the bike shop it's been really much louder than usual and I've been having a hard time sleeping since then. This is not looking good for me, I guess the pain in my right ear that I felt after the noise wasn't a good sign. Really starting to get scared now. (n)

Sorry to disappoint you guys, but it's not even the end of the first day and I'm regretting it, big time. Why didn't I listen to myself.

First there is a Harley Davidson meeting going on this weekend just at the border of Slovenia/Croatia, I saw a lot of Harleys on the highway but those didn't bother me. But there is a stretch of road where the border is about 10-15km where there is no highways and there they were closer and louder. But the worst part was waiting those 10 min at the border crossing with literally hundreds of Harleys passing by. I was in my car with ear buds in but damnit, those things are still loud.

And to top it off I was driving back to my apartment that I rented and some Croatian fan on a motorbike threw a firecracker tight on the road and it exploded not far away from my car. A loud one. And just before I was thinking of riding my bike, imagine if I was on a bike unprotected. Mind you this is basically a semi remote village full of tourists not a major city in Croatia. It's about a 20 minute drive from Pula. I'm too scared to ride my bike now so basically no point to my vacation anymore.

So fuck this vacation, I deeply regret it. Definitely do not go to Croatia during the Euro 2016 if you value your hearing, hear my advice. Worst decision I ever made probably, seriously what was I thinking.

Guys I cant beliebe what just happened. It was my last day here in Croatia, had everything packed and was on my way when I thought that I better refuel. And as you know there is a Croatian soccer game playing later today. So I was at the gas station just about to pay and this piece of shit subhuman Croatian fan came in and blew the mouth air horn right next to me, for no reason. I was literally shell shocked and still am. And this was my right ear that I still have a spike from two
weeks ago. This was basically my last minutes in Croatia outside my car, only thing that remained was driving home. They couldnt let me go without a parting gift, those mother fuckers.

I had enough fuel to make it across the border too, why didnt I refuel back home is beyond me. I knew these primitive fans couldnt be trusted so why did I take the risk, so stupid. I was literally in there for less than a minute.

I know i was complaining about Harleys on the first day but this thing was way louder and no hearing protection of course. Air horn right next to me. This will probably make my tinnitus unbearable to the extreme, I can feel it. If I yawn or plug my right ear its now way louder than it was just this morning. I guess this is it, I might not survive this. And all because of a hooligan that decided to damage my eara for fun.

When I get loud noises I lay on a heating pad for comfort. My neighbor blows his semi truck air whistle sometimes when he passes me. It happened once when I was sleeping..

Every time I see this thread

Perfect jam for @LeQuack!

"But, here I go again,
Here I go again,
Here I go again,
Here I goooo"

@LeQuack you should turn this song up every time you get hit with some sound, just sing it out loud every time man, my be therapeutic for you. Get it all out. Sing it while you post about your latest crazy/insane/unlucky noise story in this thread. Just f//kin rock out man!!

Yes it's all fun and games. I was actually going to write about how the vacation wasn't that bad and that I did have some fun, that was before the air horn thing though. Now all I will remember from my vacation is that happening just before I left. People get tinnitus or go deaf because of air horns, and that's healthy people not people with already broken ears.
