Hello everyone
I've been "lurking" on here for a couple of weeks but decided it was time I stopped hiding. I also have some questions that I haven't been able to find the answer to.

The cause of my one-sided pulsatile tinnitus is being investigated on the NHS, my GP referred me as she suspected Menieres. I have an appointment for a scan in a few weeks - "MRI internal auditory meatus both". Although the injection of dye is mentioned as a possibility in the covering letter, I'm assuming that because the title of the scan doesn't say "with contrast" that I'm not having that. Am I right? Does that mean that all this will achieve is to exclude an acoustic neuroma? If the problem was caused by an artery, would that show up?

Sorry for asking so many questions straight away, and thanks in advance for any help.

It looks like you will be having the dye/contrast but it's only a injection and you will be fine.
It will rule out Acustic neuroma but Menieres Disease can take time to diagnose with your symptom history and tests etc.
Good luck and keep posting on the main forums for round the clock
support..lots of love glynis

Hi Glynis
Many thanks for the quick reply. I've read all the accounts on here of people's MRI scans so I'm not worried about the procedure itself, I'm just wondering how much use it will be if it's done without contrast. It may sound odd, but I actually want to have the contrast as it might give me more answers!
Thanks again

Contrast will show up more and better for inner ear problems and middle ear problems and the vestibular nerves.....lots of love glynis
