Cause of Tinnitus
loud gathering
Hey

It's such a relief reading all your similar stories. Last thursday i went to a loud gathering, where i stayed for like 1 hour. I know i'm very sensitive to loud sounds, but i didn't bother to put my earplugs in since i thought people's voices won't be that damaging (yep that sounds very naive isn't it). I have experienced tinnitus before, but only when i went to an concert or party without my earplugs.. then it took me like 5/6 months completely to heal.

Just like i had experienced before, i have a feeling that my ears are infected. There is a lot of earwax, and i just feel the pressure on the inside of my ear. I have a past with sinus problems so i know that could be the reason.

Now i dont really know if someone else has experienced this? i get this everytime but if someone else would have had this i would feel a little bit more comfortable for the next 2 months or so..

I want to go to the doctor but i'm far away from home right now, or do you guys find that i have to go? or take medicine?

Hi.
If the new tinnitus that you are experiencing is like it was before then you need to be careful. Hopefully it will go away, and to help that I advise you not to listen to music through headphones even at low volume. Going out to places where music is played is fine, just be careful of loud sounds and use your ear plugs. A trip to the doctor is a good idea and possibly a referral to ENT might be needed. An article that I have written for people new to tinnitus is in the link below, just click on it.

Hope things improve for you soon.

@Herlinde, Hi and Welcome to the forum!

Sorry to hear about your second round with T. I'm sure it will get better for you, just be careful around loud sounds and use earplugs when necessary. How loud was your T when you first had it? It's very hopeful that it finally went away, maybe it will go this time as well! I keep my fingers crossed.

It's a good idea to see an ENT to determine if there's a lot of impacted wax in your ears, but please don't get them syringed - some people have worsened their condition by going through that procedure - it's not worth it.

Hi and thanks! This forum really helps me :) Finally there is a place where i can talk about it and everyone is understanding.
Yes, today i'm having a day off so i'm happy that my ears can rest now.
I can't really say how loud it is.. I can hear it during the day if the sourrounding sounds arent louder than my beep. Its the hardest when i wake up and when i want to sleep. The first days after the incident were fine but yesterday unintentionally a lot of loud noises have reached my ear. Loud moviefragments during a lesson, a person besides me coughing, i'm more sensitive than normal to sounds.

And OK! thank you! i will go to the doctor this evening and we will see what he says :) thank you for the advice i will let you know what he said

First thing to do is see a doctor, then a second one. T is so unique to the individual that you will get so much conflicting information if you just go on what the internet says. I was at the brink, in the worst place. I checked myself into hospital emergency after my GP dismissed me. That got the process moving. You need individual treatment and support from a specialist. Support is so key. Read the success stories. Refuse to accept that T is permanent - it is simply a matter of finding what solution works for you. I'm new to all this to. Good luck!

@Capricornus @Paul10 @Michael Leigh

just went to a new doctor because i'm away from home now. He gave so much other insights and he literally said 'its good that you came here, you will see another point of view with another doctor'. Tomorrow i will go to a specialist. He called the specialist and said it was an emergency. Nothing is wrong with the outside of my ear. So yeah, we will see tomorrow i guess. Tonight I have to take antibiotics.

With my other doctor at home it took 2 weeks to see a specialist, and then the major problem was already gone so i'm so glad that i went to this doctor.
thank you everyone for the information, i refuse to say i trust 'doctor' internet (but somewhere i did), but just because of you guys, because you all said i had to go to a doctor, i went. thank you very much!

Really glad to hear it @Herlinde . Just remember that 2016 was the 'year of the ear' as far as medical research turning it's attention to it. No cure-all found yet, but it's on the way. In the meantime, I'm convinced that everyone's T can be treated one way or the other, it's just a matter of trial and error, finding what works for you, and being guided by sound specialists. That's what's keeping me ploughing on. Good luck!
