Hi mustafa,
Welcome to the forum.
Until now there is no real cure for tinnitus, there is nothing that will make it go away, so unfortunately no quick fix for the problem. But keep in mind that it can always go away by itself or get better with time. Even if it doesn't go away you will most certainly habituate to it. Also maybe there will be a good treatment in a few years.
For now, you can work with background music/nature sounds or a fan to cover it ( good while studying) try music therapy or relaxing with yoga

Welcome, Mustafa,

I'm so sorry to hear you're having a difficult time with tinnitus, and are having problems studying. Are you currently having any sleep problems? If you are able to get a good night's sleep, the tinnitus may calm down a bit.

Have you tried taking any supplements for your tinnitus? Sometimes tinnitus will calm down from the following supplements: Gingko biloba, magnesium, vinpocetine, B vitamins, vitamin C, fish oil. Some people have had success with GABA; I've taken pharma GABA, and it was very calming. I'm currently taking a Chinese herbal remedy for sleep that has also helped my tinnitus a little bit: An Shen Bu Xin Wan.

As Seal has noted, the passage of time helps, and if you are able to continue with your normal activities, the tinnitus will eventually seem to fade into the background. I know how hard it is to do that, especially in the beginning, but it can be done!!

As you'll see when you look around this forum, there are some promising treatments for tinnitus on the horizon. We believe that some day, maybe not too far away, there will be a breakthrough.

In the meantime, we're glad you've joined us here at Tinnitus Talk!

Best wishes,
Karen

Hi Karen

I don't have any problem with sleep but the main problem at time of study , i have been took B vitamins and Ginkgo biloba but without improvement.
i'll try with PharmaGABA as you said, may i get some benfit.
I want ask you about acupuncture, it's useful or not ?

Thanks for helping me and encouraging me to face my tinnitus

Hi, Mustafa,

Acupuncture works for some people, and not for others. I've tried it, and it did help calm me down, but it didn't help my tinnitus. You could try it and see if you are one of the lucky ones that it helps! It will at least help you relax, and that could aid you in the long run. Relaxing with the tinnitus will help you cope with it, and adjust to it faster.

Best wishes,
Karen

Hi, Kenji,

Is lithium carbonate pretty effective for you? How much do you take, and where to you purchase it?

That's great! I'm glad it is taking the edge off for you. Thanks for the information.

Mustafa, I remember feeling the same as you when it first began years ago, I am sorry you are having to deal with Tinnitus at a time you are needing to be at your best. I am sure being a medical student puts you under a lot of stress, that alone with lack of sleep can make it worse. I remember feeling alone and depressed, worried it would drive me crazy. I promise you will learn how to feel better about it.
I want to tell you that it may definitely get better in time, mine has, but it is important to start learning to adjust to it, learn to outsmart it by teaching your brain to ignore it, mask it with other sounds, make sure you get as much rest as possible, destress with meditation, and joining this support group will surely help you. Others will not understand how difficult this is to endure, especially in the beginning. Welcome.

I wish I had found this site years ago, just joined yesterday! :)
