Tinnitus Since
??? Just identified in the last few year
Cause of Tinnitus
Loud Music?
Not sure how long I have had tinnitus, but I put a name to it in the last couple of years. I have a "crickets" like sound in both ears. Like going camping in the wilderness and listening to the crickets at night.

I have a couple of theories about the cause for mine.

1. My older brother gave my theory a very apt name. "Zeppelin Ear". :) Meaning too much loud music. I attended my first concert in "74" have have seen some greats like Pink Floyd, The Stones, U2 Uriah Heep to name a few.

2. My second theory is I started some medications for anxiety and depression a few years ago. Could this be a cause?

3. Is it just aging?

If anyone has thoughts are wants to share so wisdom I am all ears... Pun intended. Still have my sense of humor. Thanks...

A warm welcome to Tinnitus Talk.

Loud music and medications can cause tinnitus and anxiety and depression will make it harder to cope and anxiety feed tinnitus too.
A visit to ENT and a hearing test would be a good route to follow.

I hope your anxiety and depression is easing with doctors support, talking therapy along with medication as I know it can lower your self estym and confidence but their is help.
Keep posting on the main forums for round the clock support.
.....lots of love glynis

Thanks for the reply Glynis. Seeing your location gave me a smile. I lived in London for 6 years (90-96). One of the many imported teachers during that period.

My anxiety and depression are under control with a prescription. Best I can remember, I noticed my tinnitus at about the same time.

Wish I still had my NHS coverage. All medical is so expensive here even with the insurance I have. ENT? Ear Nose & Throat?

Thanks....
