Dear fellow tinnitus sufferers,

My name is Jay, and I have just joined the forum, so hello! :)

I have had tinnitus for about three months now. It all started when I woke up with a bad headache on the right side of my head and ringing in my right ear. I think it might have been caused by driving fast on the motorway with my window down, with the wind blowing directly into my ear, but I am not sure.

I went to the doctor, and she diagnosed me with an ear infection. I was prescribed ear drops and Amoxicillin. The infection has cleared up, but three months later, I am left with a continuous hissing sound in my ear, like someone opening a can of soda.

I have noticed that when I pull my jaw back, the hissing turns more into a ringing sound. When I push my jaw forward, the hissing reduces slightly. Also, when I bite down hard, I can hear ringing.

Does anyone know what this might be? Has anyone had a similar experience?

Thanks!

Love,
Jay

A temporomandibular joint (TMJ) problem could be the cause.

The jaw joint can become inflamed, and since it is located near your middle ear, it can sometimes lead to tinnitus.

Lots of love,
Glynis
