seem to suggest that British police are no longer protecting the public.

If you live in the United Kingdom, would you say that tourists who travel to Scotland are safe? Would you feel safe to be in the middle of nowhere in Scotland, outside of your car, contemplating the scenery (and later staying at a local hotel)? Or is it the case that, in your opinion, the next few years will offer the last chance to see Scotland before it gets Real bad?

With respect @Bill Bauer you don't live in the UK and there are horror stories all over the world if one looks for it. It would be a good idea to stick to tinnitus. I believe you're opening up a can of worms pursuing this route, especially when it comes to talking about feeling safe.

I don't see why it would cause trouble @Michael Leigh .... There is room for discussion outside of TRT. I live in the U.S. and completely agree with @Chris Holland and while you made a good point Michael about horror stories all over, I'd be the first to agree the U.S. is one of the most dangerous places especially in regards to gun violence. More mass and school shootings than anywhere else in the world, and as far as our police are concerned there's much cause to not feel very safe here. If we are comparing police I'd take a run in with a Bobby over a post 9/11 militarized American officer any day. That being said, I think most tourists feel safe here. I wouldn't be concerned at all about visiting the UK @Bill Bauer

Sex trafficking is a major problem not just in Europe, but all over including right here in the U.S. In fact, without getting too personal my family had a brush with someone involved in orchestrating such an operation and was instrumental in putting them away. That was decades ago and the problem has only gotten worse since. The WORLD is not a safe place, but as a tourist who has been to the UK many times, I also have family there as well, I'd go back in a heartbeat. But we better stay on Michael's topic of tinnitus so the real question is now, is the airplane to get there safe for your ears? I'm sure it's fine just start your TRT after you land. Ahhh i crack myself up. Sorry... can't not take a jab at Michael's need to be in control of this forum.

I don't live in the UK, and this is why I am asking people who do.

Normally, when I am considering visiting a country, I look up the crime statistics. The story I quoted (and many stories that I read about the UK before that) seem to indicate that your police is actively manipulating the crime statistics, so I can't just look up the crime statistics myself and have full information about how bad it is. But what I do know is that the police in London are no longer investigating petty crimes like car break-ins.

Also, the official policy is to give the group that I belong to the lowest priority (when one of us makes a complaint to the police). "Private police forces" are springing up in London. https://www.thesun.co.uk/news/5577609/private-police-uk-dad-lee-balkwell/

It is hard to tell, but it does look like UK is close to becoming a failed state. I am convinced that Canada will eventually get there too, but right now it is a little less far gone (the key word being "a little").

As for traveling to "the middle of nowhere", in Canada that would be a place that is something like a 3-hour drive from the nearest town. I can't imagine a criminal traveling to the middle of nowhere to find a victim. In the UK, one seems to never be more than an hour drive from the nearest town...

The UK is quite safe I assure you and no more dangerous than any other country in my opinion. Do not be put-off visiting the UK by the left-wing newspaper that you quoted, that want to score political points because this is what it's all about. Whipping up fear into people is the best way to do this. Making people afraid of something and blaming the opposition party for the cause of it. That's how you get votes!

Why doesn't this surprise me, Bill? Wherever you live Bill I guarantee you that the U.K. is no more or less dangerous. There's no way I'd be looking up crime statistics before visiting Scotland because it's relatively safe when comparing to anywhere else in the world. I mean if you were thinking of vacationing in Syria then I'd understand. This kind of gives us more insight into your personality though, so I can understand why you're obsessed with avoiding noise/social activities.

Hi @Ed209

Reading your post I just couldn't stop laughing thanks for that....

I would not be so sure about that ... I heard that in Scotland there are kilt wearing gangs that ambush you with their bagpipes as soon as you leave the airport ...

Several years ago, I was all set up to go on a road trip in Taiwan. Then I looked up the road fatality statistics for Taiwan, and I immediately lost any desire to be driving there. I actually had to cancel my plane ticket.

Thank you for sharing your perception of safety.

I thought the Sun and the Mirror were not left-wing.
The sun and the mirror are pretty much trash papers and can't be taken seriously. Its safe as anywhere in scotland if not safer but id stay away from cities like glasgow etc. Iv not that much experience but if its in the middle of nowhere you will be absolutely fine.

That's a shame though Bill. Don't let stats rule your life. You can't live in a shadow fearing all these things because at the end of the day everything carries a risk.

I fully agree and I'm sorry to know that you are affected in this way @Bill Bauer Try and break out of it. It is one of the reasons I stopped buying newspapers as they report only doom and gloom. Television news and Radio are no better. When problems at home are not enough to depress us they saturate the media with problems from around the world. There is no escaping it sadly. If we take it on we will become a nervous wreck.....

@Bill Bauer ,
Come to the UK im sure you will love it.
Been to Scotland a few times and it's lovely .
The weather changes quick with short sharp rainfall to warm and sunny .
Very friendly people and we always have a fun time.
We will be heading down South this year.
Love glynis x

Everytime I've been to the U.K it has been really nice, and there are a lot of pretty places to see. Most people are really nice as well (well, there was a man that told me to piss off for no reason, but surely there are rude people in every country).

Crime is a very difficult topic, as many people says here, there is no place where you could be completely safe.

I live in Baja California México, and we have drug cartels... I have being living here all my life, and most of the time I feel "safe".

But for example, San Diego California is like, 10 minutes away from here. Baja Californian's use to cross border (legally) to go into California to buy milk or load gas... sometimes, when I go for example to San Diego, or to Los Angeles, there are times when i Feel "less" safe than in México.

There are places in San diego, and in Los Angeles, and generally all around California where you can find gangs, people asking (screaming) for money, alot of angry people, and so many people under the influence of drugs.

So, feeling safe depends alot with the familiarity you have from one place to another.

Regards,
