Why is my hyperacusis worse in the morning after getting up? In the course of the day it gets better. Why? Does anyone have that too?

Maybe it's noisy at night? Or can you exclude that. I am wearing silicone earplugs during sleep.

Yes. It's not every day it's worse in the morning, but fairly often it is. Don't know why though.

I had this as well when my hyperacusis first started. I wonder if it's something to do with with cortisol levels being elevated in the morning.

Try sleeping with a quiet fan. Not an electronic noise synthesizer. Your ears never turn off so if you sleep in silence that might be reducing your tolerance. just be careful not to set it so loud that it bothers you.

Usually it's because your masking or sound enrichment while sleeping is too loud and competing with your tinnitus. I turned my pink noise and nature sounds way down so it's barely audible and only masks the silence, not the tinnitus, and my tinnitus had turned much quieter in the mornings.

It may be because during sleep you have no control over your face muscles. So some people really relax and sleep like babies and maybe they feel better in the morning, while other people clench their teeth and jaw muscles during sleep without knowing, and may feel worse in the morning.

The absence of sound during night may also play a role... so many hours without any background sound.

Those are my guesses...

Any artificial audio triggers my hyperacusis. I tried low volume pink noise and had a huge spike.

My H is always worse for me in the morning. I didn't even consider if it had to do with the fan or not. Now that it is a bit colder at nights in New York, I have turned the fan off and try my best to deal with my T. That being said my H is terrible some mornings and sets the tone for me day :(. I am going to try the fan tonight and see how my H is in the AM!

I have this too. Hyperacusis is worse in the morning and my tolerance gradually builds throughout the day.

I have on an air purifier which has a low hum and nature sounds turned super low at night. My sound enrichment doesn't need to be loud though because my tinnitus isn't that loud to begin with.

i always sleep without background noise. tomorrow i get up with tense neck and jerk muscles. it could be due to the muscles.

If you sleep without any background noise that's the reason. Your ears during night are in completely silence and then every sounds in the morning is perceived louder. If I sleep without any background sounds (nature sounds, fan or something) my hyperacusis is worse next morning too. Maybe try to sleep with some quiet, peaceful sounds, I think it could help you.

My hyperacusis gets worse doing sound enrichment. I wake up with my ears feeling fatigued and on edge. I have a sound budget and try to spend it wisely.

Eh, this condition is so different for any of us..
I use nature sounds but without any white noise (it's triggers my hyperacusis and tinnitus). Speaker stands about 4m from my bed, because I find this "far away" sound the best for me.

In your case try nature sounds, but don't use mp3s or YouTube videos as the compression creates low quality sound that is harsh on sensitive ears. You need the full wave file or CD.

Mine is also worse in the mornings until about 10:00 or 11:00. I try not to do too much until I get warmed up. I think it has to do with cortisol which rises from 7-10 each morning.
