I Can Not Tolerate Ear Plugs Any Longer

I can not use plugs anymore, my tinnitus is perceived so loud when my ears are plugged that I cant even think straight.

Anyone else have this problem?

Yeah, me too. They seem to lock the noise inside your head, which is worse. I guess everyone is celebrating New Year's Eve.

I put A dab of olive oil on two cotton balls plugged them into the ears just barely and it lowered mine for a bit .(at around .1pm) tried it again hours later due to t getting louder and no results.i left them in there for about 5 minutes.

I put them in on purpose, knowing the T will be very loud. I do this when I have a spike. After a few days when I take them out the sounds out in the world seem loud for a few days and the T is nonexistent as my ears fight to lower the volume.
Been doing this since '80.

Yes they do lock it inside your head sadly, but the benefits of using them on flights and such outweighs that I think.

Yes I have that problem. When I put plugs in, my already dental drill like tinnitus which is heard all the friggin' time even on a busy street clear as if I was in my living room, becomes a screaming jet engine taxiing on the runway.
So imagine trying to concentrate while sitting in an open cockpit of an F-16.

Do any meds take the edge off? Is your noise ever low or gone for a day? For me the drugs seem to work sometimes, almost like a placebo and other times not.

Yea me to @Telis .

Since my increase from suction wax removal I find it hard to tolerate ear plugs now, but unfortunately I have to tolerate it as I can't handle society without them!

Plus driving a truck and working around fork hoists every working day I'm too paranoid not to wear them!

So bummer for me as well!

My T is now just a low whooshing sound in both ears.. louder in my left ear. but yea as soon as I put on ear plugs I can hear my T louder.. It sucks still. I think my T started with an ear infection after I was assaulted 50 days before and on 8th day of Ciprodex ear drops. I had to get a lumbar puncture which also helped lower my T a little.
