I dont know
Hello my name is Abe im 16 and I just recently started expieriencing T and its kind of perculier or maybe it isnt I dont really know but I used to have very quiet T never really heard it but then all of a sudden about 4 weeks ago I woke up at like 3am and my right ear was blaring ringing I went to the docs a week later and they told me to go to a ENT the ent said everything in my earls was perfectly fine no damage or anything. He put me on this wierd sounding steroid It started with a M. Anyways it seems to have gotten a little better but now this night its 3am and as im writing this it came back suddenly very loud ringing blaring and I cant go back to sleep it gets soft then loud again and when it gets loud i get a little dizzy and my head feels like its vibrating my ear is wet on the inside and it feels very numb or tight when I feel my inner ear. I dont know what to do im scared I dont know if I can live with this anymore.

Hi Abe and welcome to TT…

If T keeps you up at night or wakes you up, try using some masking sounds, like waterfall, rain, forest sounds.. Keep it slightly higher than your T sound and try not to think of it and just relax and accept the T… Harder to say than to do I know but it will help…

Also try not to freak out and give it too much attention… You are very early into T and it might just resolve on its own… Give it a bit of time but do protect your ears in noisy environments…

Hope you get better soon and that your T disappears.. Go on enjoy your life..

Take care of yourself and your ears..

Ciao! Lorenzo

Hi Lorenzo thanks for your words I do sleep with a fan on low and a tv on very low but the sound seems to be pushing through those can you think of any reason why this T may have came back so suddenly?

Hi Abe…

I wouldn't know why, T is such a subjective condition that not even ENT's can tell us much about it unfortunately..

My suggestion is that maybe your anxiety about it is making it seem louder.. It happens a lot and to a lot of us, especially the ones which are more emotional about life in general…

I don't know how loud your T really is, but working on the emotions and the responses to how you feel your T might be a good way to go forward.. Check the thread by "I who love music" called "Back to Silence".. It could give you some hints on how to deal with it… Also if you get very down do go and read the Positivity thread which will show you how many have learnt how to cope or have habituated to it..

I really wish you well..

Ciao! Lorenzo

It breaks my heart to hear that you got it at such a young age.
I sincerely hope it gets better or it goes away completely.
Either way from now on you need to look after your ears.

the wierd thing is I never was around loud things this is whats confusing me and im still sitting here 2 hours later after waking up due to the sound (its currently 4am) so ive been up since 2am have school in 2 hours and it hasnt gone away enough to the point were I can fall back asleep I really dont know what to do its like I can feel the sound on my inner ear.

Any tips that you can give that could help me fall back to sleep ive tried just closing my eyes but it seems as if when im just getting comfortable it gets loud again then wakes me up.

Try to use the T sound as a meditation sound.. Learn to accept it and not being afraid of it… That is how I was able to fall back asleep and stay asleep on those sleepless moments, but it took me a few months to get there..

I am sure you will be fine soon !!

… And find the right masking sound as well.. I found that not all masking sounds work well with me.. I mainly use "fire sound" which relaxes me and it helps me not to concentrate on it…

Thank you very much my ENT also metioned to me that to comeback if it didnt get better after the steroids he said hed put me on some wierd medication that would drain fluid from my ears but that it would also make me ave to go to the bathroom alot more it would be a 3 week medication so im trying to not have to go back but it seems that I may have to another good thing is he said they were able to narrow down to like 3 possible cases thats causing my T One being fluid buildup the other some possible minor blockage. He also said that he is confident that this will go away eventually.

Well, I am happy for you that your ENT might be onto something.. Your ENT seems to be better than most ENTs around :)

If you find the right cause and act quick it might go away for real.. So do not give up hopes but at the same time I suggest you to work on your emotions as well, just in case it might take longer to disappear..

Keep us updated and anytime you need to vent reach out in here as someone will always be willing to listen to you and give you strength and support.. We are all in this together and we all know how you feel, as we have all gone through it one way or another, and most have come out stronger and better people anyway..

What doesn't kill you (and T cannot kill you), makes you stronger...

Take care !

Boy That would be amazing im not getting my hopes up but that would be awesome if we can fix it ill keep you up to date on appointments and meds that I start as they come

I do have a question though is it normal for T to be I dont wanna say painful but to have this sensation that I can feel the sound vibrating in my ear?

Hi Abe,

I wouldn't know I am afraid, I wish I could help you more but I would not want to give you false ideas as I am not a doctor, just a fellow sufferer :)

Maybe you could ask to the Doctor's corner.. Dr. Nagler is kindly there to respond to questions.. Recently he was also going through a setback but I am sure he will answer you as soon as he can..

Furthermore, maybe someone else which experiences the same symptoms might be able to tell you more about the way you feel.
I am quite lucky I think as my T has been very much constant since the onset, doesn't spike not pulsate much at all, but it just stays the same sound 24/7.. Quite bizarre if you ask me :) But surely easier to habituate than changing T...

Best of luck with your ENT's appointments !!

Ciao!!

Now this is odd I just got up to go to the bathroom to brush my teeth as soon as i sat up and stood the sound went away. Now imkind of in a laying down position and I hear it coming back slightly. Now im no ENT but that makes me belive its a fluid issue but I could be wrong. :bored:

Well you might be right… Knowing the right cause can help finding the right solution.. So I really wish for you to work this out…

Best of luck !!

Hope you are doing better. There are young folks on TT who have gotten better after some time and have written their success stories. You may want to check out the success stories. If your T has a medical cause which can be fixed, then consider that a plus and count that as a blessing. Hope they find the cause and you will be home free. Take care. Here is a link to TT's resource on helping a newer sufferer and it comes with masking sounds and some tips too.

Hi im posting again after a couple of days and it was going good up until a hour or so ago its real loud in my right ear i cant go to sleep it feels like its vibration my inner ear im getting real nervous and dont know what to do

The ENT prescribed steroids for an infection. Did he do a swab test or bloodwork to discuss the kind of infection you have? Because the infection can trigger T if it's within your middle ear and steroids may not actually be the best appropriate medication, especially that it worsens your T.
Also, double-check on the name of the medication to see if its "ototoxic" to ears & T that may be actually causing it to become worse. Posting the name here may help others to assist you on it. Steroids is also used for inflammation of other areas, such with nasal issues. Are you congested often?

Hi Abe, i have had Tinnitus and bad ear pain for years, but in my case it has been alot of years with ear problems, but right now the sound those not bother me, or make me feel something, its just background noise, and i can hear it over TV.

In your case, it may be the case of and infection, and have to be real patient, because for most of the people it will improve with time, but could take from days to several weeks or months.

What you have to do now, is stop thinking in the worst scenarios, keep calm, hear your T but does not pay attention to it, just let it be. Please dont go to bed in complete silence, because the brain will increase the perception of the sound, also, if you are checking your sound, and you are nervous about it, brain will increase the perception.

Just calm down, and things will settle down.

Couldnt find the paper but ill look for it in the morning but anyways my ear right now also has a slight fullness to it if that helps

But I mean I just dont understand why its so bad all of a sudden it was fine earlier I wasnt around loud sounds or anything it just sort of came on Its really frusterating me now anyone have a possible idea why it would have came back so hard so suddenly?

Guys im really getting pushed i think im hyperventalating a bit can someone please tell tell me somthing to do to calm myself down?
