I Invented a Sound That Knocked Out My Tinnitus

I have not seen any benefit... but I listen to this during the day instead of spending 3k on hearing aids.
At night we have a fan... mostly for noises outside the home... so the Tinnitus Mix competes with the fan a bit I would suspect.

Instead of the 3 week plan, I'm probably on Mr. Case's 3 years plan... while I have little to no results... hearing the Tinnitus Mix is better than the ringing for me. Likewise, it will be easier to travel with my 3 ounce MP3 player and headphones than a sound machine.

Free, easy, works for some people... win-win.

Now it's like I am starting to regress. I was feeling like I was healing even before starting this and now it's like I am back to where I was about 3-4 months ago.

I tried Tinnitus Mix too for just over 3 weeks with no change in my tinnitus. However I do feel there is a bit of fluctuation in the perception of my tinnitus when I am listening to it, perhaps something similar to residual inhibition?

I am on Tinnitus Mix Facebook group, and based on the posts/comments I doubt the success rate is as high as 50%, though there are people who have benefited from it.

Just finished night 20 something. I am going to do the 30 days.
The tinnitus will come and go during the 3 weeks, don't give up.and your not using the recommended headphones,ktx-pro1, I wish every one would follow instructions , they give the best results.

Sorry it it did not help you. I sent 3 CDs to Brian Douglas, 2 out of three people got good results, he had a 75% success rate.

But overall it is about 50%.

Just wanted to update after using the Tinnitus Mix for one week.

Had the quietest couple of days in a decade. I don't know if it's temporary, habituation, etc. But Mr. Case is definitely onto something. I was even hearing faint sounds from appliances, fridge from far away that I never heard before. I don't know if this improves hearing or just that my tinnitus is so quiet I can finally hear my surroundings.

I don't use headphones to listen to the Tinnitus Mix. I just play the mix throughout the night through my desktop speakers on low volume. Also if I'm working on my desktop I'll have it playing every now and then.

I will definitely continue this. I hope Mr. Case gets the recognization he deserves for his efforts. This has helped more than any ENT, doctor, "professional" that I ever consulted.
Keep us informed of any new improvements.

Pretty hard to parody people if they insist on self-parody to such an extreme degree.
Why exactly are you attacking this guy?

He already made it clear he is not in it for financial gain, as his file is free to download for anyone.

The theory about suppressing tinnitus by those sounds is about as good as any other theory, since there is not a single person on this planet who has all the pieces of this puzzle.

He's not attacking anyone himself and it sounds like he is trying to genuinely help people.

I'm receiving the headphones today and will be listening to @ajc's file to sleep tonight. I'll update if I notice any differences.

With my brief introduction to Tinnitus Mix, it has extended my residual inhibition quite a bit over an hour or two of listening. Hoping that these were not merely aberrations and some foundation can be built upon.

Why do you use so many uncommon words and phrases? Posterity means for future generations. Parody means to exaggerate. I agree that it looks like a duplicate letter from past posts.

My noise is severe right now from a nap so I'm a little ornery. Maybe it's sleep apnea? Something happens in the brain it reset the noise to extreme levels. Now I can't shut it off.

Could be a coincidence, but I listened to this therapy once for 3 hours while in bed at lowest audible volume using the suggested Koss headphones and in the days following I developed hyperacusis, new reactive tinnitus tones, and dysacusis. And one of my new tones is shockingly similar in tone and timbre to one of the sounds in the tape.

I asked a question in his Facebook group for advice/help after it happened and I was immediately banned/deleted from the group.

In my personal experience, I would not recommend this treatment to anyone.

My noise is not related to Tinnitus Mix as I have barely used it so far. I used hearing aids yesterday and they seemed to quiet the nasty static I had, but I was up till 4am as my sleep pattern got goofed up.

"the theories of this person who exhibits obvious signs of, politely, magical thinking are just as good as the theories of career neurologists who have spent decades studying tinnitus"

Are you actually saying that? We have a lot more pieces than you seem to be owing up to

I know what these words mean, and they are not "uncommon", I believe both were 7th and 8th grade vocabulary words in a very normal, public American school. I do use uncommon words, I'd say an example of an uncommon word I use is "trepanning".

A thing about jokes is that whether or not they are funny in the first place, they're never funny when they have to be explained in this level of detail.

LOL my question is why would he fabricate this?
The beautiful thing is that it doesn't matter, I think it's hilariously self-sabotaging either way.

I didn't think it was a joke. I thought you were serious. I didn't want to misinterpret words I seldom hear.

Ha. I was going to wait for a week of trying till I posted anything, but last night was my 3rd night. Today as I sat in a quiet room I noticed that my right ear, which is usually perfectly tonal, sounded exactly like one of the screeches from Tinnitus Mix. I tried hard to decide if I was just imagining that, but no - it definitely changed. The only good news is that it was about the same volume, and I didn't develop any of those other symptoms you did. It lasted < 1min both times, and it's back to its normal Bflat.

This is the kind of thing I was afraid of. I feel for you, man.

I chose to wait on Lenire because it felt a little too much like Russian-roulette but I am much more wary of this treatment because of how damn harsh the sounds are and how you're supposed to bathe yourself with it continuously in order to yield only temporary relief.

I mean, I once worked in a Marshall's department store and was driven completely mad by a repeating loop of muzak, but at least that was real music. When I say driven mad, I would uncontrollably replay the songs in my head even after I went home. I also replayed the sound of the barcode reader beeping when I tried to go to sleep. It's the way my mind works. It's a blessing in the sense that it makes it easy for me to learn songs by ear, but also a curse. Listening to this noise long enough would be worse than dealing with my tinnitus tones.

That's not good to hear at all.

Going to put off trying this for now. Can't be doing with even worse tinnitus.

So, I downloaded Tinnitus Mix and have been listening at low volume via computer speakers just out of interest. It's horrific sounding, but I noticed some interesting effects. Even though I'm not following the directions, after a short while it changed the tonality and characteristics of my tinnitus. It became less intense / less bothersome than it's been since a recent set back last week. It stopped being reactive too. I've never experienced residual inhibition either, by the way, so not sure if it is due to that.

If anyone listens to this via headphones as instructed by David, they'd better be very careful to do so at super low volume. I don't think I could bring myself to. Well, maybe if there were a lot of success stories that I felt sure were definitely credible, or research to back it up. Honestly, it sounds like it should be the opposite to what a tinnitus sufferer should listen to. I don't know if I could ever bring myself to do it as directed. I just wouldn't ever go to sleep listening to something via headphones, ever.

It's either something really good, or the worst kind of practical joke. I don't know.
