Tinnitus Since
09/08
Hi guys been suffering from tinnitus since 2008, was so hard to deal with at the start but I habituated really well, up until 2014 I went through a dramatic spike and I didn't know how to cope well but I got through it. Up until last week I started to panic and stress out of nowhere and now my right ear has this high pitched ringing and it's so loud I'm so upset I'm not coping well at all, I just wanna know what caused it to spike so loud :(

Sorry about your current condition. Have you had any new stress/anxiety unrelated to T lately? Stress and anxiety can aggravate T. How about new drugs or new diet? Have you seen a doctor or ENT for the recent trouble?

I have been stressed over other things in my life, I was just sitting down and I noticed my T spiked and I really panicked and started to stress ever since and my right has a new tone now, as for my diet it's okay but not the best, no medications non smoker, as for the doctors and ENTs I don't even bother with them coz they always send me home saying we can't do much

So, the panic and stress started before the increased tinnitus?

In that case, I would assume that being in a state of high stress for some other reason is making your sensory acuity crank up, making the ringing louder. This would just be a result of the nervous system doing what it's supposed to do: increase your perceptions when you're in danger. Of course, you're not actually in danger, so you're suffering from some kind of glitch.

Did anything in particular cause your anxiety to increase?

What are your sleep, diet and exercise habits like? Do you use any drugs?

Well happened is I panicked coz of my spike then after an hour I noticed things returned to normal, the. It started to trouble me a bit the next day and by the following days they were pretty good I got my off it and things returned to normal. Last week I was at work and I felt really scared of it spiking and ever since then I haven't been right it's louder than ever, I don't do drugs and my diet is okay, I workout 4-5 days a week

There are many causes of T or increase of T. If you are ok with diet and sleep, and you don't think you have problem with the ears such as infection, ETD, ear fluid etc., then your most likely cause would be stress and anxiety. Perhaps use some supplements to help T and to calm the nerves.

Members here often recommend some good supplements, such as NAC, Magnesium, Zinc, B12, D3, etc., and reduce intake of salt, sugar, MSG, caffeine, alcohol etc. You may also want to help yourself to get more sleep. Sleep deprivation is one sure way to fire up T. Get some bed time masking such as a sound machine or a sound pillow etc., so you can fall asleep better. Instead of sleep meds from the doctor, you can try natural alternatives such as Camomile tea, Hops, Valerian tablets, Melatonin etc. Check out this site on using natural herbs for sleep problem:

Thank you so much guys for the replys, I also would like to mention that I haven't been exposed to loud noise so it's all strange how T works, before the spike everything was normal I would be so distracted away from my T when I was busy but now I can hear most of the time it's so upsetting, I'm wondering do these spikes ever go down or is it a permanent thing? I forgot to mention I've had ETD I had it in September 2015 and after 2 weeks it went away then I got it again in December and also went away :/
