@foliefortuna - I have loud permanent Tinnitus, and I have to say there is an excellent way to relax.
It does take courage to start with, and perseverance.
On getting up each morning, I step into a lovely warm bath and do my 20 minutes meditation.
I have mentioned it in other posts, so you may have read it before.
I simply ask my tummy to take over my breathing for me, and I make a point of 'listening' to my Tinnitus.
Now - I don't have to like that noise, okay - but it doesn't actually hurt me to listen to it.
I am not afraid of it - and I don't run away from it.
My breathing slows down, I gradually feel more relaxed, and probably within a couple of minutes I am barely conscious.
My awareness recedes as my body relaxes.
I drift in and out of awareness.
After about 20 minutes I count from 10 down to zero, and come round.
I usually feel that I want more relaxation, so I stay a bit longer.
I get out of the bath, and yes, the noise is still there - but by repeating this little meditational exposure, on a daily basis, I have come to see "T" as connected to my being relaxed.
I have to tell you, after my devastating traumatic experience, I thought it would kill me, or drive me mad.
I was the biggest sceptic of them all.
"Time is the greatest healer," they said.
"Habituation will happen naturally."
I Did Not Believe A Pickled Word Of It !!!
Well - they were right - by not running away from the noise, you do get used to it, to the point where you, for the most part, are not bothered with it.
Eventually there are long parts of the day when you will not hear it /notice it, as other things take your concentration.
It is worth a try......
Very best wishes,
Jazzer
