- Cause of Tinnitus
- unknown, started the moment I woke up from a nightmare.
How does anyone tell whether their T spikes due to food or just its fluctuations? Unless your T's reaction to food is spontaneous, it's hard to say it's food related.
I'm beginning to see a pattern with the salt as well. My tinnitus is better today, since yesterday I really was careful with any salt I added to my foods, and watched what foods I was eating (whether or not they had a lot of sodium). It's like I'm always running these tests on myself but it's not something I'm willing to leave up to doctors.Salt spikes my T badly, but not sugar.
Ever tried pure cacao powder?

I didn't know what cacao was until I just googled after seeing your post Interesting, but one reason I would have to look at it closer before trying it, is because chocolate can cause me to have a migraine "sometimes". Is cacao helping you with your tinnitus? I'm always open to hearing about what someone has learned.
I did get Potassium Citrate Powder yesterday. I got it for migraine, but was thinking if I could balance out my potassium levels and the salt maybe it would help my tinnitus. Something did happen last night around 8pm when I turned everything off and just wanted to read for awhile before going to bed. I realized my tinnitus was way down. I tried not to get excited about it, but didn't turn on my Homedics sound machine (I like the falling rain sound). But within a minute or two I realized my T was buggin me, it was less, but I still have a pretty low tolerance for the ringing I get. So I turned the sound on.
I'll keep taking the potassium, and my other supplements and try to stay in touch here.
I definitely agree that mine may well be the same cause. I read almost every day on health issues, possible alternatives/home remedies. I'm more focused on overall health than just the tinnitus, but thinking if other things are improved then it seems the tinnitus could be improved as well. I've cut down on extra salt, and no sugar but like now, in the a.m., mine is way loud.salt and sugar both make my tinnitus louder...
I think it makes my blood pressure higher and so my tinnitus is something to do with restricted blood flow or the relationship of nerves and blood vessels.
It's complex...but the spike is very real...
I'm another one @MuffinMan who is helped by cacao. Salt I seem to have a threshold, if I go over that my tinnitus goes crazy, but I noticed that when I ate large amounts of chocolate my tinnitus lowered slightly so I brought some pure cacao and it helps a lot as does spinach and garlic. I put the cacao in a smoothie with berries, banana and Spirulina (a green powder that's loaded with antioxidants), I also have a hot cup of cacao with raw honey at night.Banana and cacao both help my tinnitus, cocoa powder is good for me like the sugar-free Cadbury one (the orange packaging).

To be honest since I've started my new eating lifestyle (I hate the world diet, although I'm a healthy weight, I just started to eat healthier for my tinnitus) which is a Mediterranean-Paleo lifestyle, my tinnitus has improved a lot.
I can't say my T is better from my "also new" ways of eating nutritious foods, and supplementing as well. But I am more relaxed, but with more energy, and willingness to keep trying new things. I've read a lot about Spirulina lately and may try some of that. What frustrates me the most is one thing, like cacao may help my T but anything like chocolate/cocoa can cause migraine. But maybe the purest form I can get might be ok for me. I should just build a Lab in my apartment to help keep my "testing" organizedI'm another one @MuffinMan who is helped by cacao. Thank you for the info on the "ear's blood" pressure. I'm going to check that out. Also, I've read many times that the Mediterranean is the best way for all of us to eat, and it's the one that I try to mimic
Note that the ear's blood pressure is not the same as the overall blood pressure.
I am Mediterranean and the cuisine I often eat is Mediterranean, I can't go more Mediterranean than than that lol.
I don't seem to have an issue with grains, but I've never totally stopped eating them, or dairy. I know there are still a lot of things to test out, just getting the willingness. I'll check out the combo foods you found, thank you Sarah@MuffinMan, I eat Mediterranean-paleo due to be being allergic to all grains, which is very annoying but I also hate the normal paleo diet as you are not allowed dairy which I love way too much so when I found a book where they combine the two diets I was overjoyed.
Note that the ear's blood pressure is not the same as the overall blood pressure.
@MuffinMan
Yes thats true...pressure in the head is much higher than in your feet.
Its all to do with distance from the heart.
This would mean any High Blood Pressure effect would be greater in you head / ears etc
A few grains of Sodium salt can raise pressure considerably.
You're welcome @abbynormal, everytime I eat, oats, rice, wheat, barley etc I come out in huge rashes and when I had an allergy test done it showed I was allergic to all grains and mold spores.I don't seem to have an issue with grains, but I've never totally stopped eating them, or dairy. There was a book I read which was so easy to read and understand, I'll find a link to it, but I don't use any of the recipes in the book though I use Gino D'Acampo's books for recipes and I make my own pasta (I have three different pasta machines) from cassava flour (I think that's how you spell it).
Is it different, or a different type of pressure? I can't find anything on it yet.
yes, that all makes sense. I also realize that when I am on the computer too long, I can get pain in my neck, and didn't quite connect the T with too much time online. Thanks for the info @Kelvin makes a lot of sense. The pressure is simply higher the nearer the vessel is to your heart outlet. i.e. It squirts out pretty fast and then gets a little slower as it gets to your toes. This just means any effect from high pressure ( if thats what happening ) would be greater in you head.
Remember how if you cut you head as a child it would bleed like crazy ? That was because the blood is at higher pressure.
Having said all of that I think other things can come into the mix...!
For me...I have had a lifetime of sore neck, shoulders and muscle tension form my work as an architect ( hunched over a drawing board ) and I think that muscle tension also has an effect.
At the end of the day its all a guess....BUT less salt, less sugar, less muscle tension all seem to help a bit.
Straight Vodka also reduces muscle tension with no sugary mixer...
Hope you having a better day @abbynormal X
Thanks much @Sarah200 I do love Dr. Axe, and I'll check out the other links as wellThis is the one https://www.amazon.com/Try-Mediterranean-Paleo-Diet-DK/dp/0241240719/
This is the recipe I use for cassava bread http://createdelicious.com/yeast-free-paleo-sandwich-bread-nut-free-coconut-free/
I found this as well about the benefits of spirulina https://draxe.com/algae-benefits/
And this https://www.wellandgood.com/good-food/benefits-of-spirulina-buying-tips/
Yeah mine starts screaming if I spend too long at the screen so I guess - neck, head, shoulder tension = more tinnitusyes, that all makes sense. Headed out for a walk between rain clouds, maybe relieve some of this spike, hope hope! Seems like even exercising can make the T worse when I get home. Danged if you do and danged if you don't. Everyone have a good one, and be hoping we can all find some relief. I can't remember "not" having T but it only started for me, in 2012. If it's ever gone, I hope I appreciate that precious sound of silence. And I don't me deaf. My heart goes out to those folks that are deaf but still get TinnitusYeah mine starts screaming if I spend too long at the screen so I guess - neck, head, shoulder tension = more tinnitus

I'm glad you liked the links. I love reading on Dr Axe website, on his website I found how to treat my allergies naturally. I have three cups of rooibos tea (also known as redbush) a day as it helps my allergies so that I don't need antihistamines.hey Sarah, and good morning all, I especially liked the Spirulina article, excellent info on nutritional values!! I actually have a Protein Powder I haven't been using because I haven't been doing weights for about 2 months. But I was going to check how much Spirulina is in it. It says 100mg per serving. I think this is a good brand of powder too. It says it's Oryzatein Brown rice Protein Powder & Blue green algae powder. Says non gmo, B12 fortified, Soy free, Dairy free, hormone free. I didn't know what I had really, because my neighbor lady gave it to me as she didn't like it. I think it's great in a blender.
Anyway, I know I'm off topic here, but I checked out the other links too. The bread looks good, and glad I wouldn't have to kneed it, and will try it. I think I could have an allergy to peanuts, but not sure about any others. Seems whenever I eat them from the shell, roasted, I can start having hives the next couple days, but I need to pay close attention to that and see if it's for sure.
