Hey all.

I'm just having a lonely week and wanted to talk.

Life has become a groundhog day hasn't it? (For those unfamiliar it's a movie where the same thing happens every day).

I used to wake up in disbelief that the ringing was still there. Now it's become part of me. The first second I come to, I look for it, and yes, there it is. This happens in seconds.

I'm just existing basically at this point.

I pray from time to time. I still am in disbelief a bit. I'm 4.5 months in.

What keeps me going is the fact that there are others somewhat like me, and theirs went away, be it 8 months, 2 years, 5 years. That and the drugs being developed in the pipeline. And you fine folks.

I am tired of being the guy with this issue. I wear ear plugs everywhere with any kind of noise. My wife comes home and some days she knows it was a bad one, as I'm in tears.

I bought a cheap camping hammock from Walmart and spend a good bit of time on that out back. Seems to help soothe me.

I think tiny goals are important. I think reading success stories is important. Being engaged in activities is important. Indulging in food is important. Going on drives, just because, is important.

That's all for now.

I'm over 18 months in and it does get better but it takes time. At 4 1/2 months, I was as lost as you are. Don't give up. Give it some more time. I haven't been blessed with much, if any, reduction but I'm getting better at tolerating it. It is what is.

I noticed you talking about a low hum in one of your profile posts. I had a low hum develop, on occasion, after about 9 months. It's only in my left ear. It ramps up if I'm in a loud environment and sticks around for hours to days. I too notice it more at night, but perhaps that's from it being quieter and I'm less active.

Have you noticed any correlation between the hum and something else?

I hope things improve for you soon.

Thanks. No correlation, that's what makes it so strange. In fact it's woken me up now. There seems to be a new higher hiss developing on top of it in that left ear. I don't know. I'm scared. Going to try and sleep.
