Things ain't looking good for me my people. I love you all so much.
Sorry to hear that you're feeling this way.

You mentioned that you had an appointment with Dr. Hubbard, months ago. Did you go? He provided very valuable help to me, a few years ago.

I use two pillows - sleep on my side - I push my shoulder under the pillows and this supports my neck.
I also have bad posture. I'm going to try sleeping the way you mentioned. I noticed when sleeping on my side, I cave my head inwards. I'm sure this definitely isn't helping me fix my hunch.

Well things didn't go as planned. I got gaslighted more by doctors and parents and pushed on benzodiazepines which have made everything much worse. Sound tolerance zero. Tinnitus screaming louder than anyone could ever imagine. Just about bedbound and every sound makes tinnitus amp up. No way to sleep or to continue taper off Clonazepam. What a tragedy my story has become. All because the lack of awareness and proper protocols when someone goes to a doctor with tinnitus and hyperacusis. I got diagnosed with both by a tinnitus specialist and they didn't give me the right advice at all. Wish I had found this board sooner.

I hope my story saves someone else down the road. Block all narcissists from your life (my brother is an extreme one) and anyone who has anything to do with them. Even if they are your mom and dad. They will kill you in roundabout ways. I wonder how many others got these conditions because of abuse and being to close to ones who didn't care for your well-being. People who have been abused tend to develop chronic conditions of the brain easier it seems. To have our central nervous system stress to the max for so many years can kill.

Is there any hope for my tinnitus level to go down!? It's screaming loud and causing me a lot of distress. Here is my story. Sorry for the long ramble. Picture of my wonderful partner for fun included.

Keep fighting, Travis. I'm 99 percent sure if you can fully get off benzos, your tinnitus will go down substantially. ❤️

Me and my dog Mammoth are sending you love from California!!!

Please start advising people to not take any drugs! Why do so many people on here advise people to take drugs when they all make tinnitus worse! Especially benzos! Toying with people's lives!

Hey @Travis Henry, I saw in the start of your journey, you believed your tinnitus started after the COVID-19 vaccine. I know other things took place following that, so I'm not saying "that's it", but have you come across the doctors who specialize in long haul COVID-19 symptoms from the vaccines and/or actual virus and the protocols they have put together to rid the body of spiked proteins and the crap that is causing the symptoms/neurological malfunctions? They speak quite often about people with awful tinnitus and how they found relief when said protocols are taken. These are not traditional medicine doctors, they are all functional medicine and those who have literally become long haul covid specialists. This may mean nothing to you, but thought I'd bring it up if you think the vaccine could have been "ground zero" and worsened from there.

It needs to be medically documented that tinnitus has no limit to how loud it can get and how hyperacusis can get so bad you can't tolerate any sound at all and that's why people take their lives. All sounds can become damaging and cause tinnitus to rise. Sound therapy is not the answer for everyone and it being pushed on people has worsened so many. Like pushing people to walk on a broken leg. I was told not to overprotect when, if I would have protected and known how bad it can get, I would have changed my life completely and hid from sound for the rest of my life and always wore protection outside of home and doing anything remotely loud. How do we get this more widely broadcast?

They didn't take their lives because they were depressed or wanting to die. All coping tools were taken from them and the ringing became so unbearable that even the strongest mind would crumble. In a way tinnitus and hyperacusis can kill you and it's not fair to the ones who have died while having it to put it any other way. There needs to be more awareness of how bad it can be so doctors and people stop gaslighting people and pushing them to get worse because it's just anxiety or depression. When it takes your ability to listen to any sound and your head is ringing over 100 dB with 10 different wavering tones, what is left?

So few get it this bad that it doesn't matter how widely it is broadcast. Most people think there are worse things in life. They can never empathize with the turmoil we face.

Seriously dude. I wish I would have used my savings to buy a camper and a piece of land in the middle of nowhere instead of staying in the city and wasting all my money on rent while continuing to worsen. Protecting doesn't help. Need to just stay away from everything.

@Travis Henry, any updates? It has been quite awhile since you have posted in this thread.
I am doing worse than ever.

Never let anyone talk you into taking any medications for this shit and never expose to sound if you have lost sound tolerance. Sound therapy is a joke. Resting ears and protecting them will never make things worse. Live straight edge life if you have tinnitus. It's the only way. They have poisoned me to death. Head ringing at 120 dB and all sounds causing a pain sensation deep in the brain. COVID-19 vaccine, benzos, eerything suggested and pushed by family and doctors. "TRUST THE MEDICAL PROFESSIONALS" when there is no such thing for us. We are the medical professionals. The catastrophic cases are the only people you should consult and I hope they advise you like I have here. LIVE CLEAN and,if anything, try dry fasting, eating healthy and protecting your ears as if they were glass. Never push through any discomfort. If you have tinnitus, retire from all loud stuff. All sounds can become damaging.

Why did no one in this thread suggest time, quiet, and no medications when they read what I was going through? That should have been the number one recommendation by everyone here. If I had gotten that information in April 2022, when I first posted here, I would now have a tinnitus level that allows me to survive until Dr. Shore's device becomes available.

I should have been told to find the quietest spot, soundproof a room, hide, protect what I had left, and work on cofactors. Why does no one say the life-saving information of rest, quiet, and time for a damaged auditory system?

I am now on a forced suicide leave because I got gaslighted so much. I am too dumb to listen to anyone other than my body.

I heard they air ads glorifying SSRIs and whatnot in the US. Most people are "brainwashed," thinking medications are the ultimate solution to everything.

Try to survive with your tinnitus if you can.

I have 24 other symptoms to go along with it, thanks to Mirtazapine.

Our cases are similar. I was suggested all these poisons after fluoroquinolone toxicity, and I have more symptoms than you. Around 24, in fact, including tinnitus and hyperacusis...

I don't remember seeing any SSRI commercials here in the US in the last 2+ years (probably much longer), just commercials for newer depression medications that have no generics and are many times more expensive.

Tinnitus has no limit.

@Travis Henry, at the beginning of this thread, you said this:
I have a meeting with Bruce Hubbard on the 27th of this month and just running out of hope to live with this
I could not find anywhere that you reported back on that meeting. Did it happen? Was Dr. Hubbard able to help you at all?

I was recommended CBT by an AuD, given a huge packet laying out the principles, and told to basically figure out CBT by myself. But Dr. Hubbard supposedly walks you through it. I just don't want to throw away a thousand dollars.

Hubbard is a joke. You will be throwing away money for bad advice.

Dr. Hubbard didn't help @Travis Henry. He said, "Hubbard told me a buncha bullshit."

My head is screaming at well over 100 decibels and climbing with any sound. I wish everyone would promote rest, quiet, and avoiding medications for anyone who says they have hyperacusis or unstable tinnitus. This really is the only treatment for a damaged auditory system!

If someone has unstable tinnitus, tell them to go to a soundproofed room in the countryside for the best chance at healing.

Just because you have a lower level of damage doesn't mean you shouldn't stay informed about the best practices for managing unstable tinnitus. You are giving out life-saving advice if you share what I have said here. If ears are damaged, rest them! Why is anything else suggested? Man, I am screwed. If I had gone straight to quiet on April 25th, 2022, until now, I would be preserving what I had. It's so baffling to me that this is nerve damage. Why, why, why is so much advice given that further damages the already damaged auditory system?

It's sad to see these posts from D'Angelo. He's gone now, and it's a terrible thing.
Some of this suggests that you have superior canal dehiscence syndrome, which can cause tinnitus. Have you considered getting that treated?

Also, a 'high riding jugular bulb' can cause tinnitus. A friend of mine had tinnitus as a child and had the exact same thing, and it was solved through intense surgery. Now, she only deals with it when her allergies act up.

Hey @Travis Henry,

I'm so thankful we found each other a year ago. It feels so serendipitous, especially with the messages here about time and how we exist only in the wave known as "now."

We're going to find a path through this storm of life called tinnitus. Many others who are suffering—like N, J, and so many more—will come through it with you and step back into the sunshine. Together, as true friends, we'll keep moving forward.

Don't give up. Sending you huge baskets of love and hugs! 🥰
