Hi,

2 months ago had an ear infection and after the first week I developed tinnitus. My GP gave me antibiotics pills (amoxicillin) and ear drops (Sofradex which contains framycetin). I think Sofradex has started my tinnitus because I had the first days on the infection no tinnitus. My tinnitus sounds like electric sounds in my head and the most in my left ear for my own feeling. The infection was gone after 2 weeks but not the tinnitus. I have made an appointment with an ENT en he has done a ABR test which was perfect but found a small dip in the audiogram on 6000hz on the audiogram on both ears of the hearing test. The dip was 5db and the doctor said that i have nog hearingloss and this dip was normal. The ENT said just learn to live with it get some help via GP and get also benzo, anti-depression tablets etc. My GP told me to take Oxazepam and Mitrazapine which I didn't used till today. I am scared these will make my tinnitus worse because i see in the description it can cause tinnitus.

I live in the Netherlands and the ENT's don't want to give me infusion or tablets with cortisone because it is not medically proven they say. Wat Should I do now? It is useful to get the infusion therapy if the Tinnitus is coming from the ear infections or eardrops, I'm asking this because some say it's only effective with tinnitus caused by loud sounds. Is it useful to take NAC, ALCAR etc while the T is very young now? If you think infusion is a must then I will go immediatly to Germany or Turkey to get this before it's to late.

Sorry for my really bad English... :(

When you say ENT`s I`m sure you havn`t tried all the ENT`S out there ... try another hospital ... I found a great ENT after 6 hit and misses.

and they want to give benzo after a few weeks?! ... truly a doctor like this should be wistleblown or however you want to say it ... they have special offices for this because that is just unbelievable!

In Belgium they give Prednisone out with T.

Nills, I have tried 3 ENT's and the last one was adviced me from someone who has also tinnitus and said that she (the ENT) was very good with T. I had hope but dissappointed after because she said the same: you have to take benzo and go to audiologist to get some help (TRT) and learn to live with T, no prednisone because there is no proof it will work and there are chances of worsening. She said also it's a scam to earn money if some doctors give prednisone and it's a lie. Don't believe it was the last reaction!

Yes, my GP gave me benzo on the first week of T because I was in depression ans because it was very loud T. He told me there is nothing he can do about it and was also in panic mode. I was almost crying in front of him.

I will go tomorrow to the GP to ask him a second opinion, I want this infusion therapy as quick as possible and don't want to lose any more time. I will immediatly call a Hospital in Belgium also, Germany is to far away from the Netherlands and they don't speak English mostly I've heard.

Is the UZA in Belgium a good choice? If it is I will call them now!

yes UZA a is a good choice ... only thing is you have to wait 6 months!! ... because i`m taking trobalt i`m bit out of it and i bloody forgot my appointment today! ... luckily they booked me in next week friday ... I will hope and ask for TMS treatement.

I have seen 6 ENT`s and 5 of them are rubbish telling the same stuff you mention ... untill you fond someone that actually finds something wrong with you you haven`t found a good one ... it took my last one 5 minutes to discover my TMJ ... only because I said that all my problems are on right side she know what was wrong .. I have said this over and over again and again for years now to all the other fools in the hospitals.

I also have strong deviating septum ... offcourse you can guess that none of the other eNt`s every looked at my nose ... just measuring your ears and not looking at the rest is plain stupid and shows these ENT`s didn`t get the picture of the fact why the are ENT`s and not just E`s or N`s or T`s

About TRT ... it is rubbish ... I went to a place to have perosnal earplugs made ... I told them about tinnitus and she mentioned they do TRT ... she said it is the same like swalloing ... you hear the sound but it doens`t bother you .. well it is not the same because you swallow only few times a day ... anyway. TRT is rubbish.

pfeww... UZA 6 months wait :( Good luck I hope you will get relief from TMS.. then think I will go to the Hospital in Turkey, I'm going 15 august on vacation and to visit a doctor there but I'm also afraid that it's to late then. Maybe it's wise not to wait till 15 august but to get the car and ride to a clinic in Germany, I saw in some forums on the internet making an appoinment can very quick (almost same day or day after calling). I am in reasearch now which clinic is the best in Germany and not to far away from here. I don't care about costs, really I would give everything for this. T makes me crazy......I want my life back!!!

Are you getting some positive results from using Trobalt?? How can I get that i don't think the ENT will give this to me. I'm reading the side efects now but these are very dangerous.....wow.
What about NAC, does it give some relief?

The ENT here did give a look in my nose and there was nothing wrong. She gave me fluticason spray (Avamys) because my eardrums were a little bit drawn in. I used this spray for 3 weeks now and I didn't noticed any change in my T so I quit now. Asked for betashistine (betaserc but without brand) and she prescribed me one dose and told my chance is 50%. I used betahistine now for 2 weeks and my T is much worser and louder..... Is this an accident or are there any other users who have had this? Since today I stopped taking this medicine because I'm afraid T will be worser permanently. I 'm afraid this is permanent...

You are right about TRT that is really nothing for me, they tell me something I don't want to understand.... Live with it but don't hear it, it's not possible for me to ignore this crazy sound. TRT is a joke!!

I am also trying the following (advice of a professor doctor and a specialist in natural herbs):

15 days onion juice 2 times a day
Done

30 days tea of alchemilla vulgaris (lady's mantle) 2 times a day
Done

15 days onion juice 2 times a day -> i am here right now on day 1. No relief from T at this stage but I'm not done yet... After onion juice i have to drink shepherds tea....

30 days tea of Capsella bursa-pastoris (Shepherd's purse) 1 time a day

The professor said that T will dissappear mostly when you follow this exactly. Anyone know if this can be the cure or already tried it?
