Hi,
2 months ago had an ear infection and after the first week I developed tinnitus. My GP gave me antibiotics pills (amoxicillin) and ear drops (Sofradex which contains framycetin). I think Sofradex has started my tinnitus because I had the first days on the infection no tinnitus. My tinnitus sounds like electric sounds in my head and the most in my left ear for my own feeling. The infection was gone after 2 weeks but not the tinnitus. I have made an appointment with an ENT en he has done a ABR test which was perfect but found a small dip in the audiogram on 6000hz on the audiogram on both ears of the hearing test. The dip was 5db and the doctor said that i have nog hearingloss and this dip was normal. The ENT said just learn to live with it get some help via GP and get also benzo, anti-depression tablets etc. My GP told me to take Oxazepam and Mitrazapine which I didn't used till today. I am scared these will make my tinnitus worse because i see in the description it can cause tinnitus.
I live in the Netherlands and the ENT's don't want to give me infusion or tablets with cortisone because it is not medically proven they say. Wat Should I do now? It is useful to get the infusion therapy if the Tinnitus is coming from the ear infections or eardrops, I'm asking this because some say it's only effective with tinnitus caused by loud sounds. Is it useful to take NAC, ALCAR etc while the T is very young now? If you think infusion is a must then I will go immediatly to Germany or Turkey to get this before it's to late.
Sorry for my really bad English...
