Interesting. If this is true, could you not round out the dips through destroying certain frequencies? My audiogram is similar, hearing drops off like a cliff, goes from perfect to 50-70 dB loss.

I do think you're onto something, I know people that have hearing loss flat across the board, and no to very little tinnitus.

I have thought about that, believe me. But who will willingly try to expose themselves to more hearing damage? And how do you damage only hair cells at 10 kHz like I would have to?

I had a big fat lump of earwax in my left ear when I had my trauma, that's what saved it from the dramatic drop/gap you see in my right ear. Also think it´s far too late now to try to even it out 4-5 years later :banghead:

It's good they do research and they are optimistic. But as I already mentioned, they do research very aside of
all others and not a lot is known about their research and also not about their funding.
I think, if they are really that close and so certain, it wouldn't be nessesary to fund money in the public, so industry
would invest like they did with Frequency or Decibel TX.
But maybe they have some other cooperations and backings we don't know... military, private...
I have no clue ....
Maybe someone arround here with background how something like this runs in USA can give us some more solid infos.

People, unless you want to fly to Korea, this is the best possible hope any of us have at regaining our minds and our lives anytime soon. I seriously doubt even Neuromod will hit the US market before mid 2020. Prepare your eardrums for the needle. It's fun!

Its an semi accurate statement. They sell hearing aides...... I remember going to their website a while ago and they had links to give them money on every page. This was discussed a while back and they really didnt have anything substantial in terms of research and they always make great promises with nothing to back them up. Don't anyone get too excited over their statements.

Go to their website again... I did last night...and then report back please... It was not my impression at all... They looked legit and really concerned about vets...

Their approach to hearing regeneration was quite different scientifically, and I ain't no scientist...

I wish all of these researchers would bloody communicate and collaborate more with their findings... It would speed things up and make treatments that much better...

Top right hand corner of every page a donate button. Until we see clinical trials they can make whatever statements they like, but don't get too excited until you see something come out.

Let me start by saying I sincerely hope their claims are legitimate. as I could be a benefactor. Reviewing the many posts on the thread one can see they have been claiming success for quite some time. But why the slow progression to human clinical trials?
If memory serves me, I believe most of their research funding came from the US government but they lost that a few years ago. Curious as to why private money has not filled the gap. They are clearly not the promoters that Frequency Therapeutics are but if you believe you genuinely have a therapy that treats hearing loss and tinnitus.....
, and we are all aware of the number of people globally in need of a treatment, how difficult could it be to raise funds to move your drug closer to the finish line?? Frequency sneezes and they raise a pile of cash.

Would you be able to properly dissect the results of a hearing test? I am currently having some MEM with conductive hearing loss at 22 years old. Below is the link of my thread with the results, can you see if my hearing is still good?

Well, if I can make an uneducated diagnosis right now, it seems that it kind of fluctuates? Like, the hearing loss can either be better or worse at times. Is that possible?

I'm not talking about your subjective perception. I'm talking about measurements done by an audiologist, say every year.

If they were truly this close to something they would have private money coming in. They dont. A while back one of the senior members read through their papers and came to the conclusion that they really didnt offer any new information based on what was already previously out there. To make claims like they do while having nothing in clinical trials is just wrong.

People sell tinnitus cures all the time and they arent valid either.
 
Maybe not habituation but you very well may return to a better sleep pattern. Try and exercise vigorously in the evening. Being physically tired can help you fall asleep.

My thinking exactly.

"Regaining our minds and lives", I have lost both. I have been derailed financially because of an unexpected operation, I also support 3 kids and my wife, so it takes time to save money. But I'm back on track, with my sights on Korea. I see no other viable option, outside of drug use, such as benzos or assisted suicide when my children are older and could handle it better. This illness is grinding a lot of us down, some cope better, I try, but it gets the best of me.

I've tried to get on clinical trials, I find it impossible to contact anyone, much due to the fact I live so far away and there really isn't that much happening, and what's happening is slow and secretive.

The Neuromod thread has taken a depressing down turn for me, but of course I'm desperate so I'm fragile.

Sorry to rant, it's literally my mind and life at stake, want them back.

Open to any ideas, suggestions, plans, or not. Thanks.

Notch signaling is the key. I've known this since my curcumin experiments.

This is it, the key to regenerating hair cells. Now we can only hope that restoring hair cells will correct hyperacusis and tinnitus. Also we can only hope that THIS HAPPENS QUICKLY!!!!!

Curcumin is a potent notch1 inhibitor, but I took enough of that stuff to make curry for the entire Indian subcontinent and it didn't do anything. Maybe if we paired it with something that increases permeability of the BLB like Mannitol then it would enter the cochlea better.

Our bloodstream is separated from the fluids in the cochlea by the BLB (blood labyrinth barrier).

Mannitol makes BLB more permeable (permeable means stuff can go through it).

You can buy Mannitol. I don't know if this would have the same effect on the BLB as the medical grade that's injected into the blood or what the proper dosing would be or of this is even the same thing at all.

There's two to several different types of hyperacusis, we don't know what is what. We don't know if growing back hair cells will solve the problem and damaged nerves will still remain.

Everything at this time is murky, that's why I'm depressed. Bio-medical research isn't always an enthusiastic thing.

Well, that was my original theory, but maybe the sequence of that isnt what I thought and the real limiting factor was the permeability of the blood labyrinth barrier. If I still have tinnitus in about a month I will certainly try this. I welcome anyone else to try it out as well. I have no idea about dosing. I'm just trying to figure this out because it's such a horrible condition.

EDIT:
Now that I think about it, and I could be wrong, histone acetylation happens inside the cell and notch inhibition happens on the cellular membrane so maybe curcumin, if it can get into the cochlea, won't stop it from happening. I need to see how they determined that thing about histone acetylation and if it was in vitro and on what process etc. Most of the compounds they are using to regenerate hair cells are acting via Notch1 inhibition and curcumin is a potent Notch1 inhibitor. It's also a small molecule, like FX-322.

If you watch David Luccino's presentations he always likes to refer to their compounds as small molecule drugs, and that's important so that they can diffuse through the round window membrane.

However, they did feed rodents the same small molecule drugs orally and that also worked to regenerate hair cells it just also gave them cancer and sheeit which would indicate that they can in fact pass through the mammalian BLB. I was taking heroic doses of curcumin for like a month and it didn't work.

I just don't know. I think at the least it's worth a try. I just feel very strongly deep down in my gut that if hair cell regeneration is possible then there's a way for us to achieve this on our own.
