Intermittent Fasting for Tinnitus Relief

When my tinnitus first came on, I read books, went to doctors. I reduced sodium, swam 2 to 3 days a week. Within a year, I lost 40 pounds. The last three years, I was hardly complaining about my tinnitus.

During lock down, I did start eating unhealthy more often and have not exercised for a year.

In the last two months, I feel like I'm back to when it first came on in 2017.

So, here I go again looking for the answers. I am going to try fasting.

I enjoyed all the posts from 2016.

There are extensive published studies regarding the health dangers of keto. For anyone really interested in hard core fasting, you might want to check out true north health center in Santa Rosa, CA. I'm considering going there but waiting because I've had some success lowering the volume on my own the last couple of months. But they offer extended fasting and dietary guidance, with doctor supervision. I just watched a podcast with Rich Roll (plant based athlete pretty well known), and one of the lead doctors from True North. They offer free consults. I have no idea whether it would help tinnitus but fasting sounds very promising for a lot of other serious conditions. He said longer fasts are more powerful than IF but IF was still helpful.

Currently I'm doing neither because I really like eating.

But I'm serious about fitness running about 40 miles per week and weight lifting twice. I eat plenty of carbs but very healthy ones and lots of fruits and veggies, whole grains, beans, nuts, and seeds. I would never consider keto and believe it's extremely unhealthy. (I'm about 90% plant based -- we tried 100% plant based for about 3 years. I think that's the healthiest but was difficult for an athlete without protein powder, which l don't love.)

I'm sure many will disagree and I'm not really wanting to debate. I would just say that you owe it to yourself to read information from "the other side," then decide for yourself.
