Intermittent "Tink" Sound in Right Ear

Hi. I'm new here. I started to notice an intermittant "tink" sound in my right ear that can possibly be described as the sound of tapping your fingernail on an aluminum can. It's not pulsatile and it started after I became worried about some ringing I experienced in the fall of 2015. The ringing is gone but I have this sound. None of the ENT's I've seen have heard tinnitus described like this. One ENT says tinnitus is any phantom sound in the ear so it falls under that umbrella but another thinks I have eustachian tube dysfunction and prescribed nasal sprays that have not helped. It has now been about 3 months.

Does anyone else experience this symptom? I recently took prednisone for migraines and it appears to have increased the volume of the "tink" sound.

I have not heard of that sound but I'm sure it must be tinnitus and must be hard to put up with it.

Are you hearing this constantly or does it go away for hours or more? When you do hear it how often (every second, 2 seconds?) Is the tempo steady or erratic? Does external noise affect it?

Thank you for responding. I usually don't hear it while driving, listening to music, or having fans blowing in my room. I might hear it once or twice at the store or several times in a waiting room. However, for the past few months it's been there consistently. It happens about every 7-10 seconds if I put my ear against my pillow to listen for it. The tempo is erratic. External noise helps mask it so I bought a sound pillow that has built-in speakers.

Did it ever to away? I just started getting a similar noise in my right ear. I've had constant high pitched ringed in both ears for many years, but the tink tink noise is new.

It mostly went away but now I have constant high-pitched tinnitus in both ears. Now I wish it was just the tink sound.

I have the same tink tink noise, it feels like it's in my head and it's strange, it's just like a tink tink tink, I've googled it but nothing comes up so I've never mentioned it to my gp.

I started hearing the same ting,ting in my right ear about 2 weeks ago. It went away for about a week and now it is back. Almost sounds like a vehicle would make when it needs front disc brakes. I'm just starting to look into this hoping it's not anything serious

i can't believe I have found other people hearing the tink tink tink sound. I have never mentioned it to anyone because it sounds crazy. it happens to me upon waking up in the morning almost like an internal alarm clock.
I also have a short 2 second dizzy feeling when I move my head during the day intermitently but seems to be getting more frequent is there a treatment for either?

I've had cicadas in my ears for 15 years. I was told early on that the tinnitus would fade over time and it has. Sometimes it's bothersome if I allow myself to be exposed to loud noises.
Recently I started hearing a tink tink tink noise in my left ear. Just occasionally and not much of a bother but kind of strange.
Very real. Usually a couple or more three tinks and it's gone. Unpredictable. No other symptoms.

Woke up this morning with a new fun (not!) sound in my right ear. A faint but audible to me "tink" sound. Kind of like someone striking an avil.
Of course, I had to do an internet search to see if anyone else is experiencing this same sound. I am relieved to see I'm not alone...now just hope it goes away!

I realize this is an older post. I have very recently noticed the tiniest "tink" only in my right ear. If I'm distracted, I can go without hearing it for the most part. It's when I am laying down, and listening for it, I hear it. At first I wondered if it was normal for our ears to make noise or if it was just a bodily noise that I now can't stop paying attention to. It's a singular tink and happens probably every 20 seconds especially in the morning and gets way worse when I'm listening for it. For the above commenters, did this noise go away for you??
