Hello everybody,
Im a 23 ytest, old male from the Netherlands. I suffer from Tinnitus sinds the end of february this year. Since then I faced ups and downs in dialy life. Ill try to explain my story as explicit as I can, how it occured and I would like to know your advice on some treatments or ways to cope with it, because sometimes I really feel like ending my life.
It all started by the end of february this year. I was planning on going to bed, but for some reason I felt like doing some bench presses before I went to bed. I did not really pay attention to my body posture when doing the exercises and might have overstretched some muscles, because I felt tired and could barely lift the weights. Soon after the exercise I went to bed and suddenly felt a sharp pain(while laying in bed) , located some where above my right sleep, which lasted like a minute or so I think. However I noticed this pain a few times before when sitting behind my computer if I remember well. So it was not the first time it occured. However soon after that, my ear popped and I had this "normal tinnitus" which last for like a few seconds or so. After the sound dropped I noticed that there was still a very low woosh (Dunno if it is the right word) which didnt go away. I didnt give a damn at that time, so I just went to sleep and didnt notice the sound in the early morning either if I remember correct. I just did my regular routine and went to school, while listening to some music ( I never really put the volume up loud). During class I didnt notice a sound in my ears, and it was quiet because we had an exam. Maybe I was too focused to even hear it. Anyways I didnt listen to music on the way back home if im correct and didnt notice anything untill later that evening when my mom said something about a brain tumor and all of a sudden I felt really tenced and noticed the sound in my ears again, I think it was my right ear only. I went to bed hoping that it would go away. It wasnt really loud back then, but for some reason I had the idea that I could kind off feel the sound going through my head, because it fluctuated a little bit in frequency. Because this is going to take way too long ill short it down a little bit.
The next days I felt horrible and had the idea that it was getting worse, while I didnt do anything unusual, apart from feeling very tenced. I went to the doctor and I had a earwax blockage in my right ear. They cleaned both ears and I actually had the feeling that it was getting better. The days after that I felt less tenced and noticed that the sound changed a little. However as it seemed to return I got more and more tenced and started to freak out. I made a new apppointment and my ear drums looked perfect. I had to do a sound check which was perfect as well. They redirected me to an ENT for a more extensive sound test, which turned out to be fine as well. At the time I noticed some poppin in my ears and also a strange sound, like there was sand in my ears, when I moved my jaw. In the mean time I think ive had some more of these sharp pains above my sleeps and this time even on the left side. I had never had this kind of pain before, I mean I didnt feel like a usual headache. Anyways the doctor told me the poppin is usually due to the eustachius tube and she prescibed me some avamys nosespray on my advice, because at first she told me to deal with it. If it didnt work i had to come back where her final words. But she said there was not much they could do and I didnt really feel understood, cuz she barely listened op my symptoms. My eardrums also seemed perfect back then.
I used the nosespray for a week but didnt notice any difference. The only thing i noticed was the variation of the sound each day. I Googled a lot to do research for my own because I felt misunderstood by my surroundings. As it is kinda late here already, I cannot really remember what I did bewegen the apppointment with the ENT and my next step. Im currently going to an osteopat. And the thing I noticed was that she can influence my tinnitus.
The first treatment was a check up and me explaining my symptoms. She noticed a chain of blockages througout my left side of the body. Especially in my jaw and neck. After the second treatment I really noticed a difference. The first two days were terrible after the treatment, but that is normal. I noticed that my muscles around my neck/head and jaw were all sore and tenced after a treatment and that the sound increased a lot during those two days, which means it could be influenced. However the days after that, the sound changed and was more a rustle, during the two weeks between the second and third treatment I felt pretty good and had the idea that it was improving. I barely noticed it during the day, only when I focused on it and only header it a nite. However this time it seemed to be coming from the left side instead of the right..... Anyways, I managed to fall asleep pretty easily as I had good hope for further treatments. Nevertheless, the third treatment ended up in a disaster as she focused a lot on my jaw and neck which resulted in sore and snapping muscles of my jaw. Also there was a lot of tension on the muscles in my neck, rite below my ear. The two weeks after that the tension didnt go away and the sound was pretty bad at some times. I could even feel it going through my head. Also I had some frequent "normal tinnitus sounds" meaning that the sound changed a to a high Pitch for a few seconds. One day between treatment 3 and 4 I felt the sharp pain in my head again, this time on the left side. I gave myself a head massage on the particular spot in order to remove the pain. But this resulted in a terrible and painful tinnitus which i could feel going through my head and was really bad. I couldnt sleep and the day after I went back to the doctor, which like really didnt give a shit that I was crying and she adviced me to listen to music..... But the sound was so painful that I couldnt even watch tv. Also she noticed that my left eardrums was a little bit subdued. Her explanation was that it was because of the tenced muscles around my jaw/neck. I went to the osteopat that day because I couldnt take it anymore and she noticed right away that a few things werent correct, with my neck /back. This was last friday and I must admit that after the treatment last friday things seem to have improved a little. There is a less tension around my jaw /neck and the T is a rustle. However sometimes its very loud ive to go back friday for the next treatment. However below I will sum up the symptoms ive noticed, because I might have forgot to mention some.
Symptoms:
- sound is way lower when i wake up
- it fluctuates a lot during the day
-poppin ears, when moving neck /swallowing/ moving jaw
- can influence the sound when moving jaw/clinching teeth/opening mouth/moving neck/pressing on neck/jaw etc and even when moving eyes very tenced
- sound seems to be louder on left side and continuesly flutuating on that side (perhaps due to the subdued eardrum on that side)
- I noticed that when I sleep on my side or slept in an uncomfortable position the sound increases or kind of hurts, i. E. I can feel it some how.
- stinging pains in my ears at times, as of now especially left.
- sound seems to increased when muscles around jaw and neck are tensed
-sometimes I feel pressure in my ear
-during the day, at time when i close my ears i can hear my blood pumping, but at other times of the day i only hear the rustle or a mixture of both
- burning feeling in my ears
-at times a sharp pain above my sleep or ear
As of now Im going to end my story here, because im too tired to continu. Please feel free to comment and react on what you think of my story and if you have any suggestions. According to my opinion it seems like I ruined something with the bench presses as I noticed it since then, because i didnt listen to music that often and never went out or go to a concert. Im going to make a new apppointment with the ENT tomorrow as I feel like the left ear is not like it should be and because the doctor said that the eardrum was subdued on that side. This also explains why the sound is a lot higher at times. Thanks for reading my story, it is not the well structured due to my lack of english. When i read the symptoms i find them very confusing and vague and im still trying to figure out what may cause some of them...
Cheers
